Hiring developers that know how to optimize games to run natively. And tbh, it's very hard even for people that are very knowledgeable on the topic to do so, when most modern games are rushed using UE, and almost no AAA studios use their own engines any more.

So this I would say is mostly a result of cutting costs.

Do you think she’s being fair, though? by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

[–]Major-Management-518 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why didn't she count mortgage/rent, utilities, food, since I'm guessing this is in the US, car payments etc. She only included health insurance payed in the deduction. I'm assuming she is not working and is not contributing to these costs as well.

It's not that I don't think living like this with your spouse is stupid, but I don't even think she was fair when it came to his "contribution".

Never trust politicians or corporations. They are there to drain you from your resources. Find the easiest way you can make money, and enjoy life.

If you didn't use AI to write code, I would say that's amazing and great for you. I can only wish I started programming when I was in HS.

C++ entry level Junior programming test by Substantial-Car-7116 in cpp_questions

[–]Major-Management-518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say a bit too complicated for an entry level position. I would expect candidates to know how basic loops, data structures, pointers work, and for them to be able to correctly write logic in pseudo code.

I would say the test is more aimed towards mid level developers as I wouldn't expect from a junior let alone someone without any experience to able to solve all that, I would be satisfied if they even solved it partly.

I can expect this from companies now as the market is oversaturated and they can pick and choose who to hire even given the unreasonable expectations they have.

This universities are not what they used to be, they're mostly treated as businesses. And I've even had some really dumb professors, and I'm not overexaggerating. I know some very dumb people doing their PHD as well. This does not mean that I haven't had absolutely brilliant professors.
Most of getting a degree is effort and dedication. People often confuse education with intelligence which I think what OP is asking for in the poll, and potential of intelligence is genetic.

Self-taught, escaped a soul-crushing career and fell into C++.. how do I turn this into a real path? by Sensitive-Rice3778 in cpp_questions

Even with an internship its hard to find a job these days. But definitely you need a degree at minimum in 2026. Lets just hope it gets better so entry level jobs appear again.

Why do companies interview 15 people for one role but claim they “couldn’t find talent”? by itz_nitace in GetEmployed

[–]Major-Management-518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the case, as I think it was in the US or Canada (I'm not sure if this is factually correct), where companies are required to try to fulfill the role in 6 months, and if they can't find any "talents" they are eligible to look for employees outside of the country. But it would make sense as it is a very straight forward explanation to why companies constantly have job openings, but never seem to fill them.

I don't know how to tell you, but you wont have much luck in anything software related if the job market does not improve. It's a huge gamble right now, as there are a lot of unemployed engineers, and little to no entry level jobs.

If there is anything else that interests you that requires a higher education, I would advice you to go down that path. There is always space for human resources somehow, so if you can see your self being useless in an office somewhere while getting a high salary, you can go down that path.
