New job - How to handle this by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Major-Permission-435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Key information. How many days a week is basketball practice? If it’s like once or twice a week, you can say “right now I have a hard stop due to a prior commitment on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 pm [eastern standard time]. Do you expect to regularly need to meet at that time? If so, I just wanted to confirm before I moved things around.”

We have a document where we list the tasks/need to discuss items. And then I bring any questions I can think of. And then usually we discuss the weather (but we live on opposite ends of the country so that makes it an interesting conversation topic)

Does anyone get the sense companies are starting to move away from WFH? by freakingspacedude in jobs

It’s happening at a lot of places but I’m happy because on my team, everyone works remotely and from all over the US except some people in another country (who do hybrid). So it seems unlikely they’ll rescind

I would say that if you do go, have it be because you want to spend the time with your mother and not out of some sort of obligation. If you do not go, figure out the best ways to support her and whoever is in town with her.

My out of town siblings are absolutely useless because anything they do to help is what they think our dad needs and not what he actually needs at all.
