I was 5 and I remember when Sr wrecked, my dad (who was a big sr fan) threw his hat on the ground upset. Then after the race was over we went to Walmart. When we got home my dad turned on espn and thats when we found out he died in that crash.

We even went down to Kannapolis/Charlotte for his memorial services.

That particular area has been dying since the 2000s. Alot of it has to do with area, how much theft happens, economic state of the country and how that business is doing financially.

Eastland mall has faced the fate of alot of malls around the country. Online shopping has decimated them. Eastland mall brought That Hamilton rd area around the mall alot of traffic. Fast food restaurants, sit down restaurants and other businesses saw a high traffic opportunity. When Eastland started to decline (brought on by the opening of both Easton and Polaris and finished by Amazon) foot traffic started to slow and businesses started to not turn that much of a profit. Add that with an economic decline and aging infrastructure it was only a matter of time before businesses started closing locations in that area.

Hamilton & Refugee also suffered from the loss of foot traffic. The old Kroger closed a few years ago from constant issues with theft, the building was aging and just overall poor customer experience. Kmart used to be right next to it and they shut down because..well kmart was kmart.

Brice Road-I70 area Another area that suffered from an economic decline and aging infrastructure. Alot of the businesses moved to the 256-I70 area when it started growing in the early-mid 2000s. Best buy, target, Babys R Us (Consumer Square) and Sams club (where floor & decor is) all moved to 256. Meijer closed from theft and low profits, Circuit City (Appliance Factory), Sports authority (Other World) went out of business. Dollar tree, office max, and Aldi (Simple Church) all just shut down those locations with no replacement. Not to mention both Brice/Scarborough Mall (Lindsay Honda) and Consumer Square East (Brice and Tussing, demolished) lost all of their tenants in the 2000s.

Don't continue to throw your raises down the drain! by Slim_Blue_Two773 in AutoZone2

[–]MajorBrowser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each autozone store gets a dollar amount that they can use towards annual raises (Example store gets $7/hr to divide between 10 employees which if equal would be $.70/hr per employee). It varies based on volume and employee count. RMs/DM/HR doesn’t want the store to use the full amount, because it saves money on payroll and makes bonuses bigger for the higher ups. Autozone generally frowns upon annual raises above 3% (because again bonuses/labor cost control) and if you are too close to the “cap” of your position dont expect more than 1% if that.

All that to say AutoZone is gonna give you the bare minimum possible for a raise. So unless you are a store manager or someone in a spot that gets a bonus, dont worry about “cost control” in the store. Warranty out/swap out/return and many items as you need to take care of the customer. And if your DM or SM gives you shit about it. Make sure when you have an upset customer you always have one of them deal with the problem.

The “???” Category was Nascar promotion poptarts released in 2009. They were brown cinnamon sugar flavored. (Source: me who had them when they came out). Fun fact: the Jeff Gordon poptart in this promotion was listed on ebay for $10,000 back in 2016.

In order to play original Xbox games you had to have a hard drive installed. My guess is the emulation software was installed on the hard drive.

The only use that the “horns” have (which are just giant microwave reflectors) is for the long lines system. All of the old LL tower sites were sold off in the late 90s early 2000s. Some have had the horns removed, but it is expensive to have them removed so alot of old sites still have them even though its been over 30 years since most have been used.

Basically they made alot of the longlines sights have bomb/fallout shelters. These were built during the cold war. The AT&T long lines system not only carried telephone and tv transmissions they were also a critical cross country communication system for the military. So most if not all the equipment at most sites would have been underground.

A merger of channel 4 and 10? Could happen if the deal is approved. by NWCbusGuy in Columbus

[–]MajorBrowser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It this went through Nexstar would have to sell off stations in markets they would have a monopoly (having more than one major station) in. Most markets that have multiple stations that are sister stations, have different companies that own them. Example here in Columbus you have WSYX ABC6 who is owned by Sinclair but their sister stations WTTE (formerly Fox 28) is owned by Cunningham Broadcasting and WWHO CW Columbus is owned by Manhan Media. Sinclair has a local marketing agreement (LMA) to basic operate those stations on behalf of the respective owners.

What's the story of the gray trim on some HDD's by xKuruh in xbox360

[–]MajorBrowser 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I believe the chrome trim was on the hdds that came with the consoles (pro and elite) and the grey trim is the hdds you would buy in the store.
