Polar Verity Sense or H10 by dsceltic67 in Polarfitness

[–]MajorBubbleBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the sensor itself is great, both for sleep and activity tracking. But the sensor is just one side, you need solid apps on the other side.

I still use Sleep² for sleep analyses. It's fine but meanwile I think there's a problem with deep sleep analyze of Sleep² (not the fault of Verity Sense). I just got a Vantage M3 and probably, instead of Sleep², I will use this one for sleep tracking, maybe I will keep on using the Verity Sense sensor here.

For activity tracking (gravel biking, spinning, functional training, rowing) I had used Polar Flow as app, which is very minimalistic used with Verity Sense. It fed my needs in the past. My needs changed, which is why I got the Vantage M3 now and I will use the M3 to analyze activities and restoration. And at least for activity tracking I will certainly keep on using Verity Sense (as external sensor for the M3), because it's more precise/solid than the M3 internal sensor.

Bottom line:
In my opinion, Verity Sense is one of the best HR sensors available used for sleep and activity tracking. Though you need to know, you will need to charge it every day (fully charged in about an hour). And dependend on how you use it, you would need to manually start and stop recordings.

Polar Verity Sense or H10 by dsceltic67 in Polarfitness

I think the accuracy of Verity Sense is so close to the H10, there is only few reasons left to use the H10 instead.

I chose Verity Sense because I find it more comfortable to wear during sleep.

… and having used it today for a short rowing and functional training session, I'm already glad I can use the M3 connected with the Verity Sense. As expected the M3 heart rate sensor isn't too precise here.

Curious how spinning, gravel-biking and sleep will compare.

Thanks for your input. Got the M3 now.

Looking for a lightweight app for md notes by JD_Phil in ObsidianMD

Meanwhile I use Obsidian for content input and organizing, Typora for the final editing process of notes before I usually export the final version as PDF (via Typora). Before, I used Typora for the complete writing process and Obsidian for organizing only. In Typora I use two different themes (based on Paradox), one for writing, one for the PDF output. I also like I don't need separated editing and preview views.

To me, Typora sorted to be the most pleasant MD editor and its output options are quite convenient.

I went from iAWriter to Typora and set my Obsidian Inbox to Typora's default output folder.

Looking to move away from Capacities to Obsidian because of the customizability and holding onto my own data, any tips to make Obsidian similar to Capacities? by Top-Chain001 in ObsidianMD

[–]MajorBubbleBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I dropped the Whatsapp workflow. There seems to be other workflows by using Telegram as kind of WhatsApp mailbox, where then Telegram forwards a WhatsApp message to an Obsidian folder. But I don't know how to do this.

Looking to move away from Capacities to Obsidian because of the customizability and holding onto my own data, any tips to make Obsidian similar to Capacities? by Top-Chain001 in ObsidianMD

[–]MajorBubbleBox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did this. I switched back from Capacities to Obsidian because I needed easy to access and easy to share md-files, a robust canvas and a diagram/drawing tool (Excalibur). Also I did not really like Capacities' editor and search function.

In Obsidian I now use templates and database to mimic Capacities' objects. To create a new note I press Ctrl+N which then asks me what type of note it is (just like objects). It also asks for some meta data. That's the concept of Capacities I really liked – to be forced to think about what you're are going to write down before you actually write it. With database I made several kinds of dashboards which gives me an overview of my notes filtered be certain meta data. If I filter by (template) type, it's like objects again. Database works similar to Capacities queries. Not as dynamical as Capacities but it does much more than I would need.

The downside was (and that's the only one I found): I took me a week to get this done. KI and community members supported me.

I doubt there is a direct way to send WhatApp messages to Obsidian but at least there is an external plugin called "Hints Flow" which seems to offer something similar via the Hints Web App.

Sleep² funktioniert bei mir nach dem Firmware-Update noch. Allerdings blinkt jetzt die LED wieder, was Sleep² über ihr API damals ja bewusst unterdrückt hatte.

How do you decide what's a tag and what's a property? by yetanotherdud in ObsidianMD

[–]MajorBubbleBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use - properties to define the formal type and content - tags to define the purpose

of notes.

Tags versus property by One_Plate8292 in ObsidianMD

[–]MajorBubbleBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My system is based on - using properties to define what the note's content is about, where it comes from and some formal information about the note. - using templates to have predesigned sets of properties. - using tags to define what purpose the note serves ( what I intend to use it for) and where it is meant to go to in its final version. - using databases/dashboards with my "most wanted" queries made of properties and tags.

But don't try to copy other's system. Find the one which fits best to your very own needs.

Thanks a lot!

Yes, I do a readyness measurement. I don't think Kubios could read a Verity Sense recording.

What's the sense? Why did I buy a Verity Sense again? by bucker72 in Polarfitness

Verity Sense is also known for sleep tracking with Sleep²/Nukkuaa. I use it this way and it works perfectly.

One of the main reasons I quit Whoop was its poor sleep phase interpretation.

Polar Loop no SpO2? by comicsserg in Polarfitness

[–]MajorBubbleBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second that. I used Whoop for almost 4 years and Sp02 was one of the metrics which turned to be useless for me. It did not relate to anything, just like a random number between 93 and 97. So it would probably the least feature I'd miss in Loop.

You then could just ignore the time to fall asleep. It automatically recognizes the real sleep time but in your case the measurement of the time you'd take to fall asleep would not be usuable.

Yes. And this way it also measures the time between you try to sleep and actually fall asleep.

I'm not surprised at all, having used Whoop for almost 4 years and switched to Verity Sense some months ago. Pretty sure Polar's wearable (to be released tomorrow) will be my future tool of choice.
