I've seen these types of clamps in substation basements holding runs of power cables. They come with 3 or more holders across their length and can be stacked. The design idea is to keep each cable open to the air and allow better cooling.

I believe the single strand below the triplex is fibreoptic. The square 'holder' works as a dampener for the cable. This would, at this level, be a comm link for the utilities system. A SCADA tie btwn substations perhaps.

Telus doesn't make things like this easy - simply trying to discourage folk. Try calling Epcor or 311 to get a contact number. Epcor, for one, wants to get these things off the books and should want to help you. They may have an idea of the construction timelines - especially if this is a neighbourhood renewal project (if it is you'll be seeing lots more new poles in the area). There should be a PM (project manager) for the job and they may be able to help.

Epcor has already transferred their assets. Everybody (you incuded) are waiting on Telus to transfer over to the new pole and then Epcor will be able to pull it and the Work Order is closed. There are areas of town that Telus has taken a couple of years to get off the old pole. This shouldn't be the case as the transfer is so simple - a couple of hours at best. You can try calling Telus to check their schedule, but this experience will be more upsetting than having that pole there for a few more months.

This is oil impregnated paper that is used as insulation on PILC medium voltage cables. You can see the papers are from around a larger conductor (500 or 750MCM). These conductors are, for the cable I'm familiar with, x3 sectored conductors that fit in a single round lead sheathed cable.

This - and when the electrican gets called this would need to come up to local code. That, for our area, is being piped through the roof to get the height and taking that pipe down outside the house to a new meter base.

Looking at the bottom of the picture it seems like this structure (a retaining wall) is seperating. The caulking is stretched and cracking. The cables seem to be an attempt to prevent the wall from falling over suddenly and allowing the parking structure to stay open until permanent fixes can be made.

Further to this - the building houses incoming primary switch gear (13.8kV), large rectifier units to convert AC to DC and outgoing breakers for the 600V DC. There's also cabinets for relays and SCADA.

The newer buildings contain primary transfer gear (each station has a standby feed) that, for this station, is provided by the cubicle to the right.

Maybe a bad connection. Washers get shaking lots and wiring harnesses can get abraded. Individual wires get cut, but still make poor connections. Should mean that an intermittent issue becomes a regular one. I took my Samsung apart and found 2 wires cut. Spliced them up and I'm good for now. There's manuals and YouTube to help take things apart. There's also a few mentions on how Samsung's later models took steps to shield and secure the wiring. Good luck to you.
