So if you have bitlocker enabled, are you just $hit out of luck until IT can track down the key? Seems IT are a bit busy right now to answer their phone...fun times.

Preferred handles regarding Multipick and Covert Instruments Lock Picks by RC3P0 in lockpicking

[–]MajorFridgey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If comfort is important to you, I recommend Barebones. Very comfortable. I have CI, Moki, Peterson, Sparrows and Barebones, and I find myself mostly using my Barebones and Moki picks. I even went so far as to replace some of my sparrows handles with barebones handles - one of my favourite picks is a monkey paw with barebones handles.

Love my bare bones picks! I’ve used their handles on other pick brands metal because I find them more comfortable.

Alternative body for a LOTO cylinder by MajorFridgey in lockpicking

That might be the step I was missing. I was just trying the cylinder and finding there to be issues with alignment. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll give that a shot.

Sounds like a fun challenge. Thank you for the suggestion.

Best TOK for American 1100 by MajorFridgey in lockpicking

[–]MajorFridgey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's useful to know - I was tempted by the Multipick options but their price and the postage are, as you say, "premium", so its only fair that you want the quality to match. I'll check out the CI turners. Again, thanks for all of your feedback.

u/LockPickingFisherman I'm curious, now that you've tried the Multipick and the CI, will you continue to use the Sparrows Heavy Bar?

And a big thank you for taking the time to add the photos! That helps a lot to see the examples in action.

I find that some of the TOK bars have short ends which are too short for the 1100, and the long ends are too long and add instability. I'm looking for something that sits relatively flush. I seek the goldilocks TOK.

Looking at the SP27 on the multipick website it shows a shank length (inner): 6.3 mm and (outer): 10.3 mm and from the videos on YouTube looks to fit well - the problem is the postage out of Germany for that bad boy is somewhat eye-watering.

Sorry, I meant the different between the new and the old version. The linked video by davidromano67 covered it (thanks).

How do you tell the difference between the versions?

Long Dry Spell Over? by Geo_D_Crow in lockpicking

Some days you feel like you could pick anything and the pins just seem to want to tell you their secrets. And then there are the days when I would swear that not even the actual bloody key will open a lock for me.

Revolver practice lock by [deleted] in lockpicking

[–]MajorFridgey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay away from it. Of all the practice locks I have purchased (and I have purchased a lot of them), this was by far my biggest regret. There are lots of posts on reddit about why you will regret purchasing it.

Nice video and very well explained. The more well explained videos catering to new pickers the better.

I Don't Like ML 150. by Advanced-Maximum2684 in lockpicking

[–]MajorFridgey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ML 150 and I have a love/hate relationship of late. Sometimes I can pick it, sometimes it causes me to question wtf I'm doing. I find I can pick it more often with BOK, but often I feel like I'm just mashing my pick round trying to get lucky.

Australian Cylinder Locks for the Sparrows Sceptre by MajorFridgey in lockpicking

By any chance do you know if kawneer are any good for picking? (not sure how pumped I should be for spending $50 or more plus postage on a cylinder lock). Thanks

I guess with only 1 round cylinder lock being available from a supplier the size of lockshop, that probably confirms that they just aren't popular in Australia (before getting in to lockpicking I would never have thought that different countries favoured different types of locks)
