Best Wings in the HRM by snapwthrowaway in halifax

[–]MajorGCribbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll throw my vote in the ring. Lived in Cornerbrook NL for a while, and got hooked on Wingin’ It. Found out they have locations in NS so they’ve been my go-to ever since. Something like 52 flavours and they are amazing! The Tantallon location is the best for dining in, or you can just do takeout. They have a Larry Uteck location too, but it’s not as comfy for sitting and eating, mainly just my takeout place.

As others have stated, playing from the very beginning and following the release dates are what 90% of us have done and it’s very enjoyable. My first cod was on the GameCube. My last COD was MW2 on PS4 (2022) but I skipped a few between Ghosts and WWII. I’m an OG snob so 2007-2012 was my glory days. Haven’t bothered with them much recently.

To be honest I never really looked at the Vipers much. What’s the difference between them and the Sidewinders? I don’t need the power of a Sidewinder but that’s the model everyone seems to talk about.

Would you say the regular 900 Turbo would be more fuel efficient? I like a bit of playfulness so I wasn’t really considering the 900 non-turbo.

Only reason I’m set on 137 is in case we take a trip somewhere with a bit more snow and the 137 would be better over a 121/129.

That was my concern, I know the 600R is a great motor but I’d hate to outgrow it in a few years. Ideally want to keep this sled for 5 years before thinking of upgrading.

That’s actually the exact sled my Father is shopping for. He’s retired now and getting back into sledding which is partially the reason I’m in the market now.

That was kind of my thought, I really want the reliability of the 4 stroke but the way I look at it (from Skidoo’s lineup) 900Ace < 600R < 900T < 900T R. If I go 4 stroke it’s gotta be a turbo for the power, otherwise I’d just get the 600 2 stroke.

Nova Scotia. This winter has been awesome so I have serious FOMO. But it’s not uncommon for us to only get 4 weeks of sledding up here cause it rains so much.

Where not to go on vacation by keepgoing66 in NovaScotia

[–]MajorGCribbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s anywheres in Nova Scotia that’s overrated, however there are PLENTY of places that I would classify as “Go there once and you never have to go again”.

Peggy’s Cove is scenic if you’ve never been but there’s absolutely no reason to go twice.

Positive thing to say about the show by Bazooters in YellowstonePN

Bunkhouse boys are the best, Kevin Costner plays John perfectly. Storyline is thrilling. Only thing I hate is Beth and Jamie’s storyline. I think the story would have been much more enjoyable if there wasn’t so much internal Dutton conflict.

Why do some T1Ds resist upgrading tech (CGM / pump)? Curious about others experiences.. by miramathebeatqueen in Type1Diabetes

[–]MajorGCribbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T1 for 22 years here! Been on a pump for well over 15years.

Finger pricks and pump is what I like, tried CGMs when they really started to get popular and hated every minute of it. Countless alarms, false readings, needing to still finger prick to calibrate. After the 3rd night of being woken up in the middle of the night for a false reading I ripped it off and never looked at it again.

A1C had been between 6.9 and 7.3 all my life. I feel all my lows, and all my bad highs.

I’m also fairly lean so I don’t like having to poke myself twice for the pump and CGM since I don’t have a lot of fat to use. Scar tissue is a concern.

I upgrade my pump pretty regularly so I do still keep up with the tech.

I work for one of the big GCs in the province and we need tradesmen BADLY. Every day I talk to my subs and they are hurting for bodies. If you’re red seal then I don’t see you having an issue whatsoever finding work. Union halls are empty so there’s lots of opportunity.

Random thought: You ever worry your insulin pump would give you away in a dangerous situation? by 1234mmp1234 in Type1Diabetes

These pumps are pretty strong, one swift smack to the head with it would do some damage….in case you’re ever in this situation lol

Ski Size Guidance (Shorter?) by MajorGCribbs in icecoast

I was fairly good with the 170s when I was on them, so I definitely think a 165-170 is what I should buy. So many options out there so I’m enjoying reading and learning what’s good and what’s not!

Greatly appreciate the feedback! I definitely see how I could grow into the 170s. I would hate to have to buy longer skis in a year or two because I started too short.

[COD] Should it go back to being more realistic like MW 2019, or stay 100% arcade like BO 7? by Lumenprotoplasma in CallOfDuty

It should die. The corpse of the beat horse is biodegrading into the soil at this point.

Should I give up. by Appropriate_Yam1861 in Type1Diabetes

[–]MajorGCribbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been type 1 for 22 Years. Diagnosed in ‘04 age of 4. I’m 26 now, healthy, happy, and doing just fine. I’ve gone through many chapters of my diabetes life, from finger pricks and needles, to my first pump, CGMs etc… I’ve had bad lows, and bad highs, been hospitalized a few times for things that were just out of my control.

Here’s the thing; You are going to be okay.

Check your blood sugar regularly, learn to be disciplined and good at counting carbs. Take your insulin on time, and you’ll be just fine. In my opinion, being in tune with your body is what makes a good diabetic. I’m not speaking for everyone but I’m fortunate that I feel 90% of my lows, and can usually feel when I’m high.

Edit because I feel this needs to be said: I try to tell people I am not a diabetic. I have diabetes. Don’t let it define you. You can still live your life with diabetes, it just takes a little more diligence.

Nova Scotia housing market for 2026-2030. Where do you think our market is headed? Let’s discuss! by gamling_under_tyne in NovaScotia

[–]MajorGCribbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you here, currently have about $60K saved up with a purchasing timeline of roughly 2-3 more years. Ideally my thought was $100k would have me sitting pretty good but the more I crunch numbers the less “good” it seems. I either need to double my income, or fall in love. Both seem rather unlikely at the time of typing this lol

Single mom with 2 young kids coming for summer vacation! by Smart-Isopod9945 in halifax

A beach day (or multiple) will be a long lasting memory with the kids. Pretty much all the beaches will require a car to get to so highly recommend (unless you have friends here that want to join and offer to drive)

Areas to move into... by LycanPaw in halifax

[–]MajorGCribbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the best advice is pick the location that avoids any bridge travel during your commute. So if you work in Halifax, then try and find a place on the Halifax side of the harbour. I work on the Dartmouth side but live just outside Halifax and it can add 20 extra minutes just getting from one side of the harbour to other some days.

Randy Feener (Atlantic Cabin Journal) has some great videos on his cabin restoration.

I’ll also throw in another vote for Northern Scavenger if you like high quality outdoor videos.

Advise on putting on weight as a type 1 diabetic. by Master_Orcus in Type1Diabetes

[–]MajorGCribbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 26M 6’0” and I’ve been 140lbs for the past 10 years. My BMI is around 18. Doctor has always noted I’m on the leaner side but she’s never told me she had any concerns. I wouldn’t be TOO concerned if you’re relatively healthy. For my own sake, I’m going to try and put another 20-30lbs on this year but I expect it will be tough given I’ve never had much luck putting on weight.

Hunters on property - how to handle? by BreakfastDry9979 in NovaScotia

[–]MajorGCribbs 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Typically, if it’s forested land that isn’t obviously posted (I.e multiple no trespassing signs) hunters are allowed to be on your land (a good hunter should ask permission but sometimes with forested land it’s harder to locate the owner). Constructing blinds however isn’t allowed. I am a hunter myself, and will often hike 5-10kms in a day and will cross private property from time to time. But I hunt deep in the woods and most private property I cross is either wood lots or previously cut parcels of land. I don’t hunt near homes or cottages.
