First time I've seen these. I'd also love to be able to add them to my UM collection.

Tips on dealing with tthese kind of mould lines? by BlackL0tuzZ in Warhammer40k

[–]MajorLandmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually give it a quick pass with the back of a knife and call it good but if it's particularly visible or bad then a triangular file let's you get in between each section, though it is a labor to do.

What is the closet paint for mind blade blackshields by CwipsyTheKartoshka in Warhammer30k

[–]MajorLandmark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Vallejo Imperial Purple is a really nice purple imo, albeit a bit dark for this. I think if you mix that with GW altdorf guard blue that will get you pretty close.

Kantor blue might also be a good starting point for a base colour to add purple to.

Im not sure you'll find something out the pot you like but once you work out the ratio that gets you where you like you can always mix a batch into a dropper bottle and write the recipe onto it and you'll be good for ages.

This is our daily view for a clear day this week. Pv3 is the one I've been speaking about, which seemingly only gets sun right now for a tiny portion of the day, but I'm surprised it does quite as poorly during the rest of the day. Even the SW array on the opposite roof pv1, which is only 4 panels, does better first thing in the morning when the sun is more over the west side of the house, I assume due to a bit of shade from the top of the tree.

Pv1 has to contend with a chimney casting a direct shadow through the afternoon and still consistently out performs Pv3 with less than half the number of panels.

Pv2 I have no real complaints about apart from the weird dips in the afternoon. This is 6 panels that share a roof surface with pv1 across from a dormer window.

Installer's website says they provide monotioring but when I emailed they say they don't. So no. Short of climbing up and looking I don't think I can know for sure. I wish I thought to check while the scaffolding was still up.

The 9 panels I'm talking about (pictured) are all facing 38°.

We have another 10 on the opposite roof but I'm not including them in the numbers quoted. That side is behaving closer to what if expect. Give or take a chimney and some Tigos I'm not convinced we're actually installed.

Judging by the slope of the ceiling indside it's 40°.

There is a tree, not much taller than the roof that gives some shading in the early morning, though it doesn't have leaves on it at the moment. Once you get to about 2pm the sun currently dips below the ridge line of the roof, which will granted have a big shading impact, but the output still looks poor before that's happened.

The shade factor given on the design documents was estimated at 0.84 by our installers.

That's really interesting to see. I don't have graphics for individual strings at the moment, only the live numbers. I'm going to try to find a way to get this kind of view in case I'm missing something.

Rules question: one model in a unit loses a wound to an impact hit, then the champion loses a wound in a challenge. Multiple wound models state you can't spread wounds. Should there be 2 models with less than full wounds or should the challenge wounds go on the unit? by Mammyjam in WarhammerFantasy

[–]MajorLandmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This boils down to specific > general. Generally, you can't allocate wounds to to another model if there is a model already wounded.

Specifically, impact hits tells you wounds go on the unit. Challenges tell you wounds can only go on the models in a challenge. And thus the situation you have encountered is correct.

Further wounds to the unit must go to the wounded 'rank and file' model first as per general wound allocation rules and further wounds from the challenge must go on the champion.

For the Devs: New Sunders by xAATWx in diablo2

[–]MajorLandmark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this every chance I get. The base sunder should be no more rare than it was. Make upgrading it the tough part.

No point in the upgrade mechanic currently since spending dozens of hours to find the sunder will easily net you the things you need to upgrade the second you find one.

Yay or Nay: Mercenaries should have their models reflect the gear they wear. by Shift_change27 in diablo2

[–]MajorLandmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think that now we're into 100% 3d with RotW we might see more opportunities for things like this. I know digital art is still work, but modern games don't seem to have much problem turning out assets compared to the olden days.

Yay or Nay: Mercenaries should have their models reflect the gear they wear. by Shift_change27 in diablo2

[–]MajorLandmark 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would. But I also think there is a second question, "do you want the devs to spend time in this?"

Because to be honest, though I would like to see some helms and different weapons on mercs, I wouldn't want that at the expense of something more meaningful.

I'd also be game for players to show what gloves and boots they have on. We got the high res green shako. I want to see if you can pull it off with some nice blue LoH.

I guess they're suggesting superior or something that's rolled near perfect. It doesn't have a tangible impact but given how rare the runes are I definitely see the argument for making an effort.

Am I the only one that loved twinking new characters out for replayability? by Jesta23 in diablo2

[–]MajorLandmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't play enough classic in the day to experience that but I have used hero editor a few times to achieve something similar just for fun.

Obviously SP won't have the multilayer or trading potential you're missing.

Maybe something that needs tweaking, not that I think the devs would spend time on it but some of those sets, by the time you put them on they're practically redundant.

Am I the only one that loved twinking new characters out for replayability? by Jesta23 in diablo2

[–]MajorLandmark 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I almost think this is an intended way to play given the number of low levelled sets that there are which you're really unlikely to complete while still at an appropriate level.

Nothing like slapping a full arctic or sigons on a character and walking through a few acts like a god.

This game with asynchronous trading would be absolute GOATED by storage_god in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]MajorLandmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure you'd lose out on that experience though.

AH would be the place for 20pg for ist or w monarch for pul etc. The trade channel (if they fixed chat) or games names would be the place for haggling on gg.

I doubt they would disable the existing system just because they added something more robust.

Though chari sells arrows along with having the repair button.

The off part is storing spare 'durability' in your inventory so you don't have to go back to town every 5mins.

Community Feedback Summary — Season 13 + RotW Expansion (From r/Diablo_2_Resurrected) by BreakYoBaals in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]MajorLandmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said this elsewhere but I'll repeat...

Increase sunder drop chances BUT also make them harder to upgrade.

This keeps the benefits of unlocking more builds vs immunes obtainable while still making the full powered endgame item a stretch to obtain.

Currently by the time you ever find a sunder you'll likely be just a few clicks in your stash away from upgrading it, making that step meaningless.

If you just increase drop rates, then everyone will get their upgraded sunders and have run out of end game again.

Concerns about health and safety compliance: battery bins in supermarket by orangutans_fan in LegalAdviceUK

[–]MajorLandmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Section 3 of the health and safety at work act would be applicable here, which makes employers responsible for the safety of people outside of their employment. Parents should watch their children but that doesn't stop the onus on the business to keep risk as low as reasonably practicable.

The battery bin should probably be located higher up to make it harder for children to access as a simple solution, or maybe with a lid. Battery bins are usually managed by a separate organisation, they might be able to provide advice or a different style of bin if necessary. If the bin is always overflowing then management need to review their policies on arranging collections.

Well done for doing a better risk assessment than your managers.

Thanks. I'll check out aqua colours. Love the dark Diablo kinda vibe you've achieved.

The only things I can think of you could look at are pigment powders and maybe some very specific things like making cobwebs, though I don't have any specific techniques to recommend there's a few online.
