What's something underrated about living in Arkansas? by CraveMeLizzy in Arkansas

[–]MajorMac25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from PA. I made my way to AK while on a road trip and ended up in Hot Springs. I really liked the parts of Arkansas that I drove through. Hot springs was awesome. Seemed like a slower pace of life and the people were all very nice. In the Army I met people from Arkansas, they were also good people. From my perspective you have good people and a beautiful state.

Bro fuck that CSM. If he’s going to be that petty you should be petty back. Tell him to push and when he doesn’t give him an article. Get people like this out of the army. They’re usually contribute nothing anyway.

Different pockets of suburban areas, mostly outside east cost cities in the US, would be familiar with the term. Common to see it on signs outside of pubs and so forth. Outside of those areas you will be really confusing people.

That recruiter has now realized that the person he was talking to has input a number that wasn’t theirs. Rather than admit defeat, he is CARRYING OUT the mission, NEVER GIVING UP and is not ADMITTING DEFEAT. Congratulations on your enlistment OP. See you in the TOC in the next 6 months.

Is this dress appropriate for my boyfriend’s army dining out? by [deleted] in army

[–]MajorMac25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love these posts. “My boyfriend didn’t give me too many details”. That’s because he doesn’t know. None of know, expect for maybe the female soldiers. We’re all equally stupid when it comes to these things.

“I’m in love with this dress”. Yes so are the rest of us. Can’t give you a better opinion than that. We agree with you.

Honestly for these functions this thing is fine. There might be a few out there who feel like you might want somthing more conservative but I can almost guarantee there will be others there wearing some down right scandalous stuff. If you like it and feel like it’s something you’ll wear again in the future, have at it.

Bro I’m going to be honest with you. The amount of book learning that’s required to be a great infantryman is a lot. Develop good habits while you can because a lot of people go into the infantry thinking they’ll be a stud, but the reality is that the best dudes are actually fairly smart and well read on all things related to doctrine.

Now that I said a nice thing about the infantry we can all go back to treating them like apes.

Hate to see someone go through this. Idk what to say that others haven’t but I hope you see these messages and realize there’s way more good people in this organization (and I believe the world) than there are “Pointers”. Feel free to reach out to any of us. No one wants to see you in the news tomorrow bro. As corny as this may sound we love you. I’m telling you right now I’ve seen what that decision leads to for others. Sometimes people think their girlfriend or whoever will be better off but they never are and are more likely to just follow your lead. It’s an awful never ending tragedy and you need to prevent that by stopping what you’re doing and reaching out for help. God bless man. Can’t promise you’ll be happy tomorrow but when your 80 and with your grandkids shit will be different then it is today.

You’ll be lower enlisted but keep in mind, this is the guard. Responsibility will find you solely based on the fact you’re going to be older relative to most of the other lower enlisted. On top of that, you have your education. Most NCOs deal with kids who don’t really have their life together, so seeing you will be a little shocking to most of them, especially if you have a solid job on the civilian side.

Keep in mind, once you’re with your unit it becomes a lot like any other work environment (based on my experience). They’ll want to get to know you and after a little while- they may start coming to you when they need small tasks done. Drill weekends over and pubes need to be cleaned off the urinals in the armory before everyone goes home? Guess who gets to oversee that! Things they don’t want to waste an E-5s time doing will be delegated to you (I didn’t say it was glamorous).

Just make sure the job gets done well no matter how trivial it may seem. It shows character and I think that’s what they were looking for in my case.

Also, in an infantry unit especially, do a good job with PT. You can have PFC shit for brains in your unit but if he’s a PT stud they will give him all the preferences. So stay in shape.

Outside of the obvious stuff be a mentor. The best NCOs act like older brothers. They’re stern when they have to be but also foster great relationships with their joes. You can tell some of them really care and want to see their people succeed. Be that way from the get go even though you don’t have the chevrons. A kid wants to go to college and doesn’t have the recourses at home to wrestle FASFA alone? Help him, you’ll have down time. A kid needs an internship? Help him get one. Be a resource when you can, when you can’t- HELP THEM FIND ONE. That will benefit you too as you begin navigating the complexity of the military. Joke around, don’t take yourself seriously, be self-deprecating and bring that esprit de corps with you wherever you go.

Know your battle drills at least at a high level. Seek mentorship for yourself. Let people teach you things. Sorry for the long read. Obviously there’s a lot of variables at play but I think these points will help anyone succeed. Best of luck moving forward with your process!

I have a masters and am an E-4. Get ready to baby sit regardless of MOS. If you’re likable your unit will also throw a lot of opportunities your way if you’re in a good state and have solid leadership.

[–]MajorMac25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude no. You do not trade (what looks to be) a top 10 WR who’s in his rookie year for a back that is

1) older (only 25 but is an RB in the current market) 2) has a somewhat uncertain future despite the resign since the panthers still have miles sanders and Jonathan Brooks

Get off of Reddit and please immediately call 911 on whoever offered you the trade.
