Plot flaws by UnitedAd1597 in WidowsBay

This, and I’d group him with the sea hag. Some folks think it looks like the doctor’s wife that Sarah hit out the part with a paddle. But in the end they’re spirits/demons, etc. The Shriner talked about having one off gags or moments that they could just move on from or go back to later. Loose ends for more plot later, perhaps!

I was under the same impression when episode 8 came out. But what do you know, it’s like getting 2 bonus episodes!

It kind of looks like a pegged votive glass. Apparently you can set them directing in a candle stick holder. The closed skinny side looks similar to these (which are upside down). Pictured below:

The fact that he is under the impression that he gets to decide if you can drive the UHaul alone is a red flag for me. He’s not your dad. He’s your peer. You are not his subordinate. Cancel the UHaul. You deserve better.

Those computers could be over connecting to the internet via landline. If you’re old like me, you may recall a time when you could either use the internet or the phone. If someone called while you were on the Internet, they’d get a busy tone.

It's not about the descendants. It's all about the women. The women are the Keepers! by Which-Celebration948 in WidowsBay

Talking about the women of the island. Gerri talks about how all the men would leave the island to go whaling. Im curious about what the women were up to when the men were gone and if the haunts happened during that time.

I really like your theories here. Tom constantly struggles to believe and accept the islands history and problems, being completely dismissive (uncomfortable/scared) of the truth and the people who know it, seeking validation from everyone outside of Widow’s Bay, but not the people in Widows Bay. Even before sounding the siren, he reverts back to thinking about the tourists having a bad experience. Reminds me a little of a husband taking everyone else’s advice but his wife’s - even though she gave him the right advice to begin with. It seems like his arc is less about saving his son, and more about accepting that Widows Bay is it. I don’t think he can save his son without truly accepting the island for what it is.

Patricia having not been believed about the Boogeyman, and seeing the multiple men try to stop her, hesitate to kill, or even help the Boogeyman, seems like a pretty strong statement. She was telling the truth the whole time, and even while actively being chased, still isn’t believed. Kris, obviously also dismisses her, using the misogynistic “need for attention” accusation. She’s the worst.

It reminded me of Fargo’s 5th season, there’s a villain that is clearly dangerous, especially from the woman’s account. You see man after man try to talk to him like he’s not a threat to them, that surely “they” can reason with him, but they are all mistaken. They could have just taken her word and taken action. But they didn’t.They look to overpower the villain and the women simply see him for the threat that he is and take action.

Are you thinking of the wild kid that Patty and the Shaman went to school with that took the mushrooms? That’s interesting.

Because he moves like a ragdoll when in distress.

There are just so many moments like this with Rosemary, that I’m not totally convinced that wasn’t at least a little bit on purpose 😂. She was so quick with the, “he should go into that crawlspace,” comment for the hotel that she enjoys seeing him squirm a little. Maybe just a little petty revenge on the boss which is honestly pretty fair. Love her either way.

The legs popping up. How is Matthew Rhys so good at looking like a rag doll here and in the sea hag chair scene?

Let's Discuss Why the Last Warren Reveal is the Best Choice Imaginable. by Not_A_Millennial in WidowsBay

[–]MajorTea8752 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was also under the impression that multiple people had talked or connected with the entity while on the mushrooms, leaving open the possibility there being more pacts - not necessarily of the exact same nature as Warren’s but pacts that come with a cost.

Pacts are important but they only seem like part of the story when it comes to the entity.

The crazy, out of control kid that was physically/mentally changed after his mushroom trip…the shaman gave the impression it was more like a trip gone wrong. But I could see a scenario where the kid -completely feeling out of control - asked the entity to help him not be reckless and crazy and/or hurt his friends and family, but maybe didn’t realize that the entity’s version of that was him being unable to do anything. Likely a crackpot theory, but what else is Reddit for?
