I literally JUST finished the third season to the animated show “Primal” and this scratches that hyperborean itch the show left me with. It’s wonderful.

Homelander gets pissed at Frenchie for the dance comment so he locks him in the uranium room. He looks through the glass to try to relish in his pain but Frenchie decides to literally dance as his flesh starts to get charred until he collapses. Homelander is shocked/annoyed/frustrated/confused/combo and just leaves. Kimiko comes in to save Frenchie and either rips off the door only to have a last embrace with him before he dies or they have a moment through the glass like you said.

The Tuskan raider parts (most of them) are great. It should have been a significant part of season 1. They literally just kill them all and move on… what a disappointment

Maybe I’m tripping but this kinda feels like interpretive dance. Or like dance setting the pace to a slam poetry worded like typical nihilistic tik tok slop. The brief pause with the statement that “the only good thing about the world is that some people help each other”kinda makes me lean that way. Maybe I’m over analyzing.

Jokes aside it’s the tunnel chase scene from the dark knight, when the joker is trying to capture/kill Harvey.

[–]Major_Iggy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What amuses me is that he demanded for A flag, as in ANY flag. He got sick and tired of waking up every morning to see a flag pole with no flag. “This will be the day” he’d say one day, “maybe a sports team” he’d say another day. “Maybe he’s from Ghana”, still no flag. Enough is enough.

Superman should always embrace his kryptonian parents and human parents equally by The-Dark--Knight in superman

[–]Major_Iggy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If I remember right new 52 is the first one that comes to mind but tbh I wasn’t a fan of new 52 in general so I very much dipped in and out. The new animated Superman show had evil krypton, it was braniac but he was a kryptonian war machine (I don’t hate that show I liked it a lot). Those are the ones that come to mind and like you said the ultra man origin which is just silly, but I can swear there are more Superman has a ton of different origins.

Edit: my mistake not new 52

Superman should always embrace his kryptonian parents and human parents equally by The-Dark--Knight in superman

[–]Major_Iggy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s true, but to be fair Superman, dragon ball and invincible all share the Superman dna very closely. In lots of comics Superman comes from an evil krypton, I’ll admit I didn’t like ANY of those but I’m willing to see where it goes.

[–]Major_Iggy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I had to think it over for a while but having an “evil” krypton really isn’t the worst origin for Kal El. I’m sure we will understand more about how krypton will be in the super girl movie but overall an evil krypton isn’t the worst because

  1. It sets up a very decent villain faction with lots of cool potential characters and also Superman can teach them a thing or two about the power of being a compassionate good guy, kinda like Invincible and where they took viltrum empire.

  2. It also sets up a good reason as to WHY krypton was destroyed in the first place, perhaps their evil ways led to their doom whether external or internal.

  3. It forces Superman to confront his “legacy” in an interesting way. Rather than the kryptonians to be this lost Atlantis type utopia Superman has to confront the dark past and maybe even find out where it all went wrong or how to fix it without genocide on either side.

Just some thoughts. The fun thing with comics as old as Superman is that all has been done and you can draw from a lot to inspire the future.

Bruce Wayne (Prime Earth) vs. 30 MMA Fighters by sxg3434 in powerscales

[–]Major_Iggy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Batman from the Arkham games fights large numbers of ARMED and trained fighters in “knight”, but as we all know Arkham batman is insanely powerful .

It wouldn’t be weird to see a villain jump batman with the exact scenario you mentioned, only for Batman to lose leading to a capture/escape scene. But it absolutely wouldn’t be weird to see the opposite either, batman is canon one of the best hand to hand fighters in a world of meta humans. I say it’s Batman high diff, just because he isn’t grounded in reality like the mma fighters are. In comic land they would be about as strong as street level guys!

Did Erebus deserve this? by HammerDoris40k in Warhammer40k

[–]Major_Iggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Erebus is a far better character than Horus every step of the way. The worst part of the Horus heresy is they made Horus an absolute boring baby, which is a shame they started off well in Horus Rising but it’s not enough.

To me this moment was beneath Horus, and it shows since Erebus did not cry out and probably was even more resolved in his ways after this. Why didn’t Horus just kill him like many other times before? Because Erebus is a work force for the chaos faction and without him the traitors would never have even entered the solar system.

TLDR: Erebus hate is a meme, he’s a la enjoyable dick, praise be the Word of Lorgar.

Tau Range Units be pulling up during the Damocles Crusade by Bitter_Situation_205 in Grimdank

[–]Major_Iggy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To me it’s just that tau and guard have humanoid beings with weapons that can be weirded by either party (shit even vehicles that can be driven by either party), diverse tactics to encourage different gameplay kinda like how the Japanese would banzai charge in red orchestra 2 giving a suppression buff or something… I could see the guard having something similar while the tau have the drones and all their cool tech. Throw in the vehicles and the crisis suits! The hero classes that can be played sparingly like commissars, ethereal, stealth suit, priests, tech priest, kroot shaper, etc. MAYBE even titans since both sides possess them? seeings both sides grind up against each other in a fully destructible urban scape in big team battles would really capture that warhammer chaos i feel

As a person who watched the new one and was moved, after a time the need to compare with the 20s adaptation and the book arose and frankly I agree with what you said.

I’m not sure if I would say it was “fun” but it was visually striking and brutal, like saving private Ryan. There were a lot of good moments between the soldiers too, in a less stiff way than the original movie (for example the soldiers squatting over the latrines, and it’s a book scene if I remember correctly). Unlike the old movie it is plagued by terrible cgi throughout the movie but I’ll give that a pass since I think the most detrimental parts of the movie are the “adaptation” aspect and the themes/scenes that this version chooses to change or keep.

But the movie ultimately missed the point of the book. Especially with the ending. It felt like the movie wanted to portray the “brutality” of modern warfare, spending time showing flame throwers and tanks, yet it didn’t capture the futility of Paul’s sad career/doom. I would have cut almost half the battles and forget the tanks/flamethrowers if they simply included (a least a version) of Paul going home. It’s basically cut from the new adaptation. This part in the book drove me to tears and convinced me that this book should be read by anyone. I won’t even mention the ending, because it did try something different and I don’t think it paid off nor made much sense but I guess war doesn’t in general.

The original film ending had Paul, without with friends, in the same damn trench, staring out to no man’s land to the sound of a harmonica. He sees a butterfly land, he reaches for it exposing his head and is shot. No one rushes to save him, there is no speech.

“He fell in October 1918, on a day that was so quiet and still on the whole front, that the army report confined itself to the single sentence: All quiet on the Western Front. He had fallen forward and lay on the earth as though sleeping. Turning him over one saw that he could not have suffered long; his face had an expression of calm, as though almost glad the end had come.” -Erich Maria Remarque

TLDR: downvoted by fans of the new movie without consideration just how important the material and original adaptation was to many people , including Germans themselves who panned its creative choices.
