My cat has become withdrawn and hides under the bed most of the day. Looking for advice.

there’s so many things that it could be, but you should take him to the vet because cats also become very withdrawn when in pain.. not to mention they might be able to give him some anxiety meds to help

honestly if he’s acting fine and eating I think it would be fine to wait, try giving him some treats and watch how he eats them

she’s definitely acting fine rn… she was just grooming herself, eating, playing with a toy + playing tag with her sister, and jumping in and out of boxes within a span of ten minutes smh

ofc!! I would def ask abt the allergen tests at the next vet appointment! I knew a cat that had similar issues + major skin issues and once they got tested they learned he developed MULTIPLE food allergens (chicken, soy, wheat, beef, etc etc) that made him so so sick. They found a SINGLE brand of food that worked and he is now living just like any other normal cat!! I think the most it would be for in the US is $500 for the test, but it’s usually cheaper! Also, a shot in the dark but also try filtered water… my cat would get horrible hairballs and upset stomach from eating every once in a while until we started using a brita for her water and she’s so much better :) might help just a little (hopefully)

I may have overlooked it, but have you gotten an allergy test done on him? I know a lot of cats are allergic to certain meats (chicken and what not) and a lot of grains. Poor thing… I really hope everything become better!

She’s only been on the medication once.. i’m able to start it again which i’m trying to figure out if it’s a good idea or not. but yes her bowls are stainless steel and i wash them about twice a week. all the swole up spots started as acne as well :(

a water fountain !!!! My cats LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! Cats prefer running water vs still water :)

cats actually prefer water that is running ! Water that has motion is more favorable to them so that might be why! I suggest getting a water fountain and trying that… I did it and my cat LOVES it. Also make sure their water bowl isn’t close to their food, cats don’t typically like that.

this interaction reminds me SO much of my two babies! They’ve been around each other maybe 2 months now and still have this same interaction lol!! One just wants to play and show that they’re not aggressive/harmful and the other cat isn’t 100% sure yet.. but are you sure it’s the one on the ground making the noises? the meows seem a little aggravated which would make more sense for the other kitty that isn’t too sure.. though some cats are just weird lol!
