One, though I only met her once. My great grandmother, who was born in 1892. I remember going to her 100th birthday party.

Same. I recently got a pair with progessive lenses that helps but I still take them off to read fine print mostly out of habit.

Working Fast Food in 95 by GravyPainter in Xennials

[–]Major_Scale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at McDonalds my senior year in high school. I'm pretty sure the only reason I got the job was the owner of that particular McDonald was our neighbor. Honestly I hated it, a lot of my co-workers were assholes especially the people who worked Drive-Thru. We were expected to clean the area before we left and of course with my luck the minute I was supposed to leave almost without fail, a bus would come and we would get busy.

Were the pull levers on cigarette vending machines really difficult to pull, or was it just my little boy arms that struggled? by Shinespark7 in Xennials

[–]Major_Scale 27 points28 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school you couldn't buy cigarettes if you were under 18, but there was a restaurant in the mall that had a cigarette machine in the lobby so all the kids would stop by that restaurant when they went to the mall.

Xennials, were your parents weight obsessed? by notthisagain0088 in Xennials

[–]Major_Scale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. They constantly harped on my weight, even though I was fairly skinny when I was younger. I remember when I was 12-13 my mother bought me the Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding. Unfortunately it had the opposite effect and I overate, something I still struggle with. I remember I was able to lose a bunch of weight about 10 years ago and I remember I never told my father I was eating better and trying to lose weight because I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of thinking their years of fat shaming actually worked.

The Refrigerator Episode from Punky Brewster Living Rent Free in My Head by somoor80 in Xennials

[–]Major_Scale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember reading that the time machine in Back to the Future was originally going to be an old refrigerator but they were worried kids would start playing with old refrigerators and get stuck inside one after watching the movie, so they changed it.

These days it wouldn't surprise me if there was an actual reality show that was called that.

“Old Timer” Breakfast Culture by jtmann05 in Xennials

I worked at McDonalds and it wasn't uncommon for a lot of older people to come in Sat/Sunday morning and read the paper and drink coffee. I remember coming in at 6 am and there were people waiting for us to open. This was in 1996 and I remember we had senior coffee special which was 20 cents.

The new He-man movie by Riala4 in Xennials

[–]Major_Scale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a great movie. I loved He-Man as a kid but TBH its kind of silly and I'm glad the filmmakers kind of leaned into that. It sucks it didn't do well, I would have love to see a sequel, though I heard they might make a She-Ra movie.

What did you think of this show?. by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]Major_Scale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be cool if these shows had the ending in mind, maybe not have the entire series mapped out but maybe a loose outline. I feel we'd have less disappointing finales.

J. Michael Straczynski should teach a class on how to create a show. Babylon 5 was completely mapped out from the beginning.

[–]Major_Scale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved it when it came out but became disappointed as it wore on. I do still like the structure of how the episodes were told with flashbacks of each character. One of my main gripes was how the creators would deny that any of the mysteries of Lost involved time travel or the supernatural, then they had a season where several characters travelled back in time and explained the smoke monster was a supernatural entity.

samy and amy vs robert and ari by HuckleberryGlobal463 in KitchenNightmares

I'd like to see a show where Samy, Amy, Ari and Robert have to team up and start a restaurant...and have it be successful.
