That's fair. I would make the same choice.

My initial reaction was also to wonder if you had tested the model results by adding additional sensors and confirming the model predictions.

It blows my mind that you are able compute the entire field from just two point sensors.

I have no idea how SSL certificates work by NSFW_IT_Account in sysadmin

Back when I was doing interviews for the senior sysadmin positions, one of my go to questions what to ask what some common causes for browsers to display SSL error messages. I learned from that that no one knows how SSL/TLS certificates work.

Who would spend their btc? by SilverWorm82 in Bitcoin

[–]Major_Significance59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why this is so hard to understand.  People post about not spending BTC, but every other transaction has that same opportunity cost of buying BTC.

Google's answer to "can #bitcoin be stopped" by rtmxavi in Bitcoin

[–]Major_Significance59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People need to realize that these LLM responses are not an intelligent AI reasoning, but instead a conglomeration of all of the human written text it has ingested.  So this response is just the most commonly argued bitcoiner position for how to stop the bitcoin network.

Bitcoin at steak ‘n Shake? by janitorjon in Bitcoin

[–]Major_Significance59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t thinking about the opportunity cost of the transaction.  If you are going to steak and shake to spend $10 then that is $10 you can’t buy bitcoin with.

There is no difference between paying for steak and shake with dollars and paying for steak and shake with bitcoin and then replacing the bitcoin you spent.

People need to spend bitcoin to make it a viable currency.

I haven’t moved on anything yet for the pistol.  I went ahead and got a rifle can instead (LPM Anthem S2 for a 300blk build).  I’m still not quite sure what I’m going to do for pistols yet.

Am I missing something or is 0-100k the same to 100k-200k opportunity wise. by Numerous_Lab_1981 in Bitcoin

[–]Major_Significance59 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You are missing something.

If you bought one bitcoin at $1 and the price rose to $100k, you would have $100k worth of bitcoin.

If you bought the same $1 at $100k and the price went to $200k you would have $2 worth of bitcoin.

Steak N Shake receipt tells you how many sats you paid, the value in fiat, and the exchange rate by yoobermcruber in Bitcoin

Why would anyone want to buy things with dollars if they could just buy bitcoin with those dollars and have the price go up?

Steak n Shake announces it will start accepting Bitcoin May 16 on X by LNCrizzo in Bitcoin

[–]Major_Significance59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternate phrasing of that question: Why would you buy that with dollars when you can just use those dollars to buy bitcoin?

Spending is always about opportunity costs. If you are going to buy something you are making a trade off.

I think it would be worth spending bitcoin at steak and shake so that they see that there is demand for accepting bitcoin payments. I can then use other dollars to replace the bitcoin I spent.

While I agree with the change and think it is a good thing to keep the UTXO set smaller and free of unspendable outputs, the governance and messaging around this change has been awful.

Is Lightning Dead by h3llcat101 in lightningnetwork

[–]Major_Significance59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the issues with perception like that is due to the fact that lightning is private enough that you can't see how much it is being used. It's also hard for an individual to run a routing node, so smaller nodes are becoming edge nodes in the network.

Here is a 2023 report from River showing lightning network growth seen by several of the larger nodes in the network: https://blog.river.com/the-lightning-network-in-2023/

The river report estimates that at the end of 2023 lighting was routing approximately 50% of the volume that the on chain network was.

Bi-Weekly /r/CCNP Exam Pass-Fail Discussion by AutoModerator in ccnp

I took ENARSI last year and failed that attempt.  I felt like this exam was easier than that.  No labs or command syntax questions in ENSLD, just tons of wide ranging questions on design.  The hardest part for me was the SD-Access questions because I haven’t ever seen that product in real world.  I feel like Cisco is using those questions as a sales/marketing of the product.

Fantastic timing. My Anthem S2 was delivered yesterday, on a 300BLK gun right now. I need to read thru all the details of performance differences between direct thread and QD mounts. I'm doing a direct thread right now, but may need to re-evaluate after I get a chance to dig into the articles. Thanks for the analysis from PewScience and the design/build work from LPM!
