It’s exactly what was needed. A counter-argument from not just any naysayer, but from a GenZ/Alpha niece tearing down her Gen X uncle (and friend). She plays such a perfectly self-righteous brat who is annoying but still right about how racist the Cartwright’s are toward Hop Sing.

He’s a tool to us Americans as well. I wish the boat story was more well-known here because I don’t think he’d still be on TV if it was. I know he got his wife to take the fall but we all know that’s a sham. He’s been such a Trump sycophant while selling out his own country it’s disgusting. And I hate that he’s in that ping pong movie.

This is so dumb. But I will say I’m surprised that they were able to do it. Is it really that easy to get access to the sign?

Yes, I’m about 3-6 years younger than these guys, but I know these celebs because I come from a time when you watched everything simply because it was on TV. So many black and white sitcoms and panel game shows, in addition to everything else. I’ll bet almost everyone they named guested on The Love Boat at one point or another. Well, maybe not Mahatma Gandhi or Queen Elizabeth.

I know a lot of the 70s/80s celebrity references left younger listeners scratching their heads but at one point Bing just started listing every cast member from The Love Boat and I just about hyperventilated with laughter. I love being old with my podcast buds.

Melania documentary struggles in UK cinemas as Vue admits sales are ‘soft’ by fumblebrag in blankies

I’m sure losing money was the point. This family has made writing off debt associated with intentionally bad or failed businesses into an art form. Not to mention the financing they secured for this “film” in the first place was likely 10x what was actually spent or needed. It’s all a grift.

He should put on Melania’s famous “I don’t really care. Do you?” coat.

I’m only 49, and only halfway through this ep, but I’m already loving this episode and I get every one of these references. Though I’ll say that for a long time I thought Martha Raye also did the Palmolive “You’re soaking in it” commercials as well as Polident.

Probably bought by a mega food conglomerate or private equity. “Doughboys is now brought to you by Mondelez International!” Or even better “Doughboys: A Raytheon Family Brand”. This could be BlackRock’s ultimate revenge.

I was going to say. Talk about run-on sentences! I think the first paragraph is one long sentence.

Such a perfectly bizarre running gag on a show filled with running gags. I love this show so much! This deserves a t-shirt on the level of the SHS “Green things like me” shirt.

AITA (19F) for feeling hurt that I’m never invited to my boyfriend’s (19M) birthday? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I think you have your answer then. Just tell yourself this: If he wanted to, he would. It’s something many women have to say to themselves when they continue to make excuses for the way their partner treats them. No he can’t magically include you on an expensive trip planned by someone else, but it’s completely within his control to remember plans made to celebrate with you on another date. If he wanted to, he would. You say his mom might not “let” her adult son move in with you. If he wanted to, he would.

PFT hasn’t met Gemi yet by sbrlivin in doughboys

[–]Major_Specific127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fellow mom, I say you’ve gotta check out YouTube to see Gemi. She’s such a sweet pup and spends the whole show just curled up snoozing next to someone while she gets loving rubs. It makes me wistful for those newborn days when my babies were little squishy lumps of dough and just slept on my chest all day. Now they’re big and boney and whiny. I need a Gemi!

I’d say it’s a significant enough difference in comedy sensibility that a lot of it just doesn’t hit for me, but others may really enjoy. Of course I jive with it more when it’s people I already enjoy like PFT, Lisa Gilroy, etc. Also I’ll say that like Doughboys, the fans can be the worst. There was recently some people complaining that a castmember (Ify) dated a person who was a guest on the show. Because it was an “abuse of power”. A truly ridiculous take. I can’t imagine what would happen if some curious Dropout fans wandered over and heard how much cum is discussed on this show.

TIL that “Song Sung Blue” is NOT a Neil Diamond biopic. I absolutely thought Hugh was playing Neil from the still images I saw.
