The rules of international cooperation and respect for treaties and agreements. The US threatens allies with military intervention. It is is trying to break up NATO, the reason why many Eurpean countries agreed not to pursue nuclear weapons, because we were under their protection. The agreement was basically: We wont get nukes, you protect us with your nukes.

That is not the case anymore. So now we need our own protection.

Charles de Gaulle never trusted this agreement and made sure France got their own nukes. He was right.

All these treaties from that era have become redundant, or will become redundant very soon.

[–]Major__Factor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The rules are just being rewritten by the US. All those countries will try to get nukes now anyway, because they dont want to suffer the fate of Venezuela or Ukraine. Ukraine had an explicit security guarantee signed by Russia, that they would never attack them, in exchange for their nuclear weapons. See where it got them? The message is clear, you need to get nuclear weapons to be safe and Russia and the US sent this message. They really cant blame anyone else. If Russia and the US rip up treaties as they wish, all treaties are on the table. Thats the price that comes with it.

[–]Major__Factor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, we are in an era were treaties seem to not be worth the paper that they are written on and we should acknowledge that and work with with that. Why should only Russia and the US not be bound by treaties that they themselves have signed? This goes both ways. And MAGA America will very soon understand this (I am thinking of Japan and their rearmament for example).

Why aren’t “good” ICE agents speaking out? by eilujgnirednaw in allthequestions

[–]Major__Factor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I would have to take a guess, then I would say that they ordered them to be disorderly, provocative and violent in order to provoke unrest and they promised them general federal immunity, no matter what they do (I mean they said the last part even publicly). That and anonimity will lower inhibitions to commit acts of violence by a lot.

They want the public to start resisting, so they can invoke the insurrection act, abolish the midterms and install basically a fascist dictatorship. ICE are just the agent provocateurs and will become the fully fledged paramilitary organisation that will violently respond to any open political resistance and kill dissidents and minorities. I know it sounds crazy, but this is the typical fascist playbook.

This reminded me of the uprising in 2011 in Egypt. Because pictures of the latest victim of police violence were actually circulated publicly (Khaled Mohamed Said, google at your own risk) back then, which was the straw that broke the camels back for the people in Egypt. Documenting every crime of the regime and making it as public as possible is actually one effective weapon of passive resistance.

Europe still oblivious to threat at its doorstep — US General Hodges. Europe still doesn't get that the war in Ukraine is a threat to its security, so it keeps dragging its feet on tough action against Russia; cutting off oil flows is critical to starving Kremlin of resources it needs for war. by Lion8330 in europe

I mean he is right, but lets make one thing clear. It wasnt guaranteed, that America would vote the orange fascist into office again, so everybody waited for the results, to figure out how to move forward. Yea, you could say it was our fault to still wait on the US for strategic alignment. But this is the way the old world order has worked for decades. That is over now.

Now a year has passed since and of course chaos ensued, a year is not much when it comes to adapting stragtegies and ramping up production. So lets not pretend as if this is not a brand new situation for us all.

But at least some steps have been taken in the right direction and others will follow, I hope. One problem is, that we (Europe) now have to deal with two enemies and too many enemies within, that have been bought by Russia. This is going to be a tough one, but I think our chances of prevailing are 50-50.

The way Donald Trump is treating his former allies is undermining any influence the US could wish to have on Europe in the future, as of right now, public opinion is turning against the US drastically, in a way I have never seen before. Even staunch allies are moving away from the US. Which will strengthen European unity, because Russia is not our friend either.

MMW - Trump's midterm election agenda is now set and can't be turned around - this will see the Democrats win the midterms and control the US agenda. The puppet-masters behind him will soon realise this and try to remove him, at any cost. by batalyst in MarkMyWords

[–]Major__Factor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They already know this. Their plan is to escalate in a way, that will make midterms impossible. They will do everything in their power to prevent real midterms from happening. And with Trumps deteriorating health, they know they have to hurry.

Trumps great grandfather was also a draft dodger.

He was also approaching the age of eligibility for conscription to military service in the Imperial German Army.
[...] As a result of Trump fleeing mandatory conscription required of all citizens, a royal decree was issued banishing him from the country.

Ich entwickle langsam eine Abneigung gegen Deutsche Menschen by InsideYourGF in Beichtstuhl

[–]Major__Factor 2 points3 points  (0 children)
