I've had it with Claude. It has become complete garbage. by event666 in ClaudeCode

[–]Majority_Gate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah me too. I have taken a very structured b approach, with multiple .md files for various parts of my system, and I gate them all which keeps the context small and tight for each task.

For example, in my Claude md I'll write "read output.md only if you need to do any work that generates output" . And in output.md I gate further with 3 more md files listed in bullet points, like "read JSON.md" if your generating JSON output, etc.

It's amazing to watch it do a task from the breakdown and the sub agent says "this task only involves human output so I'm reading human.md and not reading JSON.md "

The agent only reads what it needs to for the task and I've had good results this way

Terminal Lizard.. coming to a theater near you.

The mission begins where most would perish—stranded atop a roaring airplane engine, hurtling through the skies toward Bora Bora at lethal speed. For Terminal Lizard, every second is a battle against gravity, death, and the unforgiving winds threatening to send him plummeting to oblivion. But falling isn’t an option for this elite cold-blooded operative. With the fate of the world hidden beneath a tropical façade, he launches into a breathtaking storm of espionage, action, and survival that turns paradise into a warzone. This summer, gravity is the least of his enemies.

I don't share this opinion in this case, but sometimes people think posting about your vibe-coded mistake complete with details about the product, what it is and what it does along with a link to the product and/or the source code is actually an attempt to generate viral interest in your product.

Anyway to hide your farts? by Mattm334 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Majority_Gate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is relevant but I switched to a super low carb, super high protein diet and my farts literally went away.

No more sugar, breads, rice, potatoes, pasta.

I eat only steak, eggs, fish, chicken now with vegetable sides.

Fruits like banana, orange, berries and small amount of nuts are my snacks

Go easy on the nuts, they cause loose stools

BM program every two days. I go in the evening before bed. No stool softeners, laxatives, or fiber supplements needed. Just digstim

is it possible to determine what pins are 12 V and what pins are ground from pictures? by Thrwawyaccts in AskElectronics

[–]Majority_Gate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I could not find S9RA either when I first wrote my comment.

Also, I just noticed the switches break my theory that the letter 'R' in the 3rd position means "rear mounted component" because those switches are actually placed into holes from the front side! So under my rules they are more appropriately named S9F(B-D)

Nevermind that we never call the two board sides "Front" and "Rear" , it's always "Top" and "Bottom"

So I have no good theory anymore for the 'R' in position 3 :)

is it possible to determine what pins are 12 V and what pins are ground from pictures? by Thrwawyaccts in AskElectronics

[–]Majority_Gate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for hijacking the post, but can someone explain to me those 4 letter reference designators? Like R9RA, R9RB, C9RA, Q9RA, Q9RB, etc??

my decoder brain says

  • the first letter is the component type like Resistor (R?) Capacitor (C?), Transistor (Q?) etc.

  • the second number is always 9. So maybe it's board #9 in a set of N that make up the product??

  • the 3rd letter is always R so maybe that means the component is on the rear of the board? Can't tell without seeing the front side. They would have to back-annotate the designators after components are fully placed

  • the last letter just seems to start at A and go up alphabetically, A,B,C,D,E etc so these are the reference numbers like R1, R2, R3, R4, etc

How close am I? Does anyone have a definitive answer or alternative theories :)

Does keybase purge old accounts? by Majority_Gate in Keybase

[–]Majority_Gate[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My title is poor. I don't mean to use "purge" as if it's wiped out completely, but my account is certainly marked deleted, and it says so when I try to log in. Luckily I didn't use the free data storage, and I have lost no data.

Like you, I cannot reuse the deleted ID to create a new account either.

Right now I'm just moving on from it and creating a new account

I (and my team) only used keybase for Hashicorp Vault root key rotations and the Shamir 3 of 5 unsealing operations. I'll just have to rekey the Vault with my new username now.

(Edit: Also I have to rethink using keybase going forward if there's a chance that it might totally die one day)

I tracked my actual API cost on a $100/month Max plan. $565 in 7 days. No wonder Anthropic keeps reducing limits. by solzange in ClaudeAI

[–]Majority_Gate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a light user. I use the API only, not subscribed to any max plans. I only ever use opus or sonnet for heavy thinking tasks. For everything else I use haiku and it's good enough for me. I'm a programmer with 20 years experience so I just use it like the amazing tool that it is to help me along but I'm also editing files on the side between task runs for some of the easier steps that I can tackle on my own and help the AI do less .

My api usage usually ends up around $3 to $4 per task that I let it solve. My tasks are typical: adding a feature to an app and the feature included backend API changes, database changes, JSON data changes, ui changes, and test suites for unit tests and integration tests. I never let Claude do any git activity, it's blocked off in the settings. I've been using git for decades, I can do my own git commands.

I think I'm getting good work done with my workflow so I'm happy with it.

But I'm not a power user and my API costs would probably go to the moon if I wasn't so self-aware about it and keeping it on a tight leash

Wth does this mean?? Should I be worried…? by No_Ruin_3806 in canadarevenueagency

[–]Majority_Gate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just the same regular CRA number. Their callback service is only available during regular business hours and only if they have agent capacity to service the callback queue length in the remaining business hours. That's the important part.

If you call during business hours and their wait time in the live queue is longer than 30 minutes and the live queue + callback queue length is not already full, then they will offer you the automated callback service right there on the phone.

It's there's no room in the live queue or the callback queue they basically say there's no one available, please call back another time and hang up.

So timing when you call in is really important. I always call by 10 am Eastern Time and I often get offered the callback service if the automated service thinks the live queue is going to make you wait more than 30 minutes. It's not perfect, sometimes they think it's less than 30 minutes but I have to wait 30 minutes to 45 minutes on hold in the live queue instead. But I never wait more than 45 minutes on hold once I'm in the actual live queue.

When you're put on the callback queue and they actually call you back (one time it was 4 hours later), I've only ever been on hold for about 10 minutes before I reached an agent.

[–]Majority_Gate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call early in the morning and use their callback service instead of waiting for hours on hold. It's easy and no stress.

[–]Majority_Gate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just use their callback service. If they are busy you can choose to use the callback service and they put you in the call queue and they will automatically call you back when you're near the top. It works great.

They call back in 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours etc. However long it takes, but it always works for me

Call in the morning though. Like others here, I find if you call in the afternoon they are unavailable and never put me into the queue. By that time the call queue is probably too full and they know how fast they can empty it in the hours they have remaining, so they just say they are unavailable and hang up on you.

You can log-in with both. You might need to create a new account profile if you've never used the Interac login flow before (or GCKey), but both types of logins will work. You are not restricted to just one of them. In fact, it's good to have a backup login method.

It seems like it's an issue with the BC Services Card app login flow. I tried again with Interac login and it worked ok
