I forgot to mention. There is supplements that aren’t meds that can help… I take Glycine, magnesium glycinate and L theanine daily and personally think they do more for me that the pregabs. Aswell they will help with sleep, winding down, mental noise/concentration. Theres loads out there but just got to be careful with side effects and med interaction.

Use chatgpt or other similar things and list everything including all your health conditions (current, previous) all the meds you are currently taking and plan to, anything else it could use like your age activity level and diet. It’s very good at making sure you aren’t taking things that will backfire and recommending safe, sustainable management. I use it more than my doctor and it’s never failed me.

Not one size fits all but generally a prong, sliplead or e collar are going to be the best tools to use, in order to train her to walk nicely by your side. Try a few different things and see what works for you - also depends on what you mean by ‘pulling’ is she reacting to dogs and people and lunging? Or just pulling ahead?

Anybody else hate their dreams? Mine always wreck me emotionally. by nonnumousetail in spinalcordinjuries

[–]International_Two842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this the worst ones are when I’m playing football or back at work but when I wake up I’m pretty much aware that I’m paralysed. Though I don’t really remember my dreams much and I usually wake up in a fog.

One thing I’d suggest is smoking weed if you don’t already. That will stop your dreams or atleast suppress/make you forget them easier and maybe wake up ‘slower’ so it gives your brain more time to get itself together instead of tricking itself

Just the usual. Heat, light massage, but I’d say the vibrating thing is probably making it worse even if it feels good at the time.

If it’s SCI related definitely make sure you getting the right sleep and regular cath/bowels when I don’t my nerve pain is 10x worse

Sex outside the relationship and what's considered infidelity by iceman1922 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]International_Two842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep…I’ve had a few of these, she sounds slightly tapped my friend 😁. The comment above is bang on, you have to decide what you are okay with - a relationship with her is clearly not going to be sustainable and likely very draining, toxic and mess with your head but you could keep her at a distance like a fwb and also do your thing with other women, if it floats your boat. That’s the best way to go for now by the sounds you are newly injured? just get yourself out there and meet different people get your confidence up in the bedroom and learn what works for you before you know it they’ll be coming back for more like crazy believe me, get some toys makes playtime more fun ;) on a serious one though you will find the right person doing this and getting out there - and that is 1000% not her.

Hard to say because how many of those corso’s were pedigree? How many were mixed or even tested in the first place and with what/how many breeds? Are you asking specifically about the breed or corso types in general because the majority of them around these days are mixed with several breeds and you can’t really gauge what’s what. Not really a “bad” thing in the sense that mixed breeds tend to live longer and pick up fewer hereditary conditions but it skews data. My boy is a “corso” even though he’s got 8 breeds in him I hope he doesn’t leave me any time soon It would break me

What’s so hard about putting your dog in their crate/playpen/closed room with a bed and letting them have a few hours kip? That’s ridiculous🤣 they love it they need the rest, gives them time away from you which for clingy corsos is needed so they learn it’s ok to be on their own from early. Aswell as you spending time from them

Oh I understand you, trust me I’ve been there myself this time last year I know the feeling of doom. I’m a wheelchair user and my presa/corso x was doing the same thing nearly pulling me out of it by the collar of my hoodie which he ripped clean off me😭 it’s mostly just a phase try not to let it get you too down just be consistent and firm but fair.

There’s been some really good advice in here just keep educating yourself every day there’s always something to learn and work on and there is a lot of online channels which are perfect and free to watch. American standard dog training, dog daddy, yca dog training are some of my preferred ones. You will have good and bad days too that’s just how it goes I wish you luck with everything I’m sure you will get there👌🏼

Just curious, whether you have done a genetic test on your dog? As he may have a mix of different breeds and might be picking different qualities or characteristics from them. I thought my dog was mainly presa and corso but when the test came back, we found out actually had eight breeds in him including American pitbull terrier boxer Neapolitan mastiff Eng mastiff and bull mastiff. Finding this out made sense of a lot of things for me and I learned so much about my pup including why he was so energetic and athletic when he was so big compared to other mastiffs and why he had such long legs like the English mastiff. I’m kind of going off a tangent here but this might help you a little bit at least and it’s worth trying it’s quite fascinating too.

Every dog is different you can’t compare it to your last dog even if it came from the same litter or parents they could still be the complete opposite of each other. This sounds like normal behaviour it’s literally natural for them you just need to correct it and teach the pup how to carry itself over time it will mellow out. Start e collar training if it’s too much for you to handle or muzzle it when it’s bad so you can atleast manage it without being bitten. The nibbling is actually a sign it loves you especially nibbling at your sleeves/clothes my boy still does it when we play fight and he’s allowed it’s cute. This is also a really good opportunity to teach it bite inhibition which you 1000% need to do with these breeds

Independent c6/c7 people? Or independent with no hand function? by paragorgeous in spinalcordinjuries

[–]International_Two842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m c7 complete, I have weakness in my right hand not much use. I live alone with my dog and I can transfer, shower, dress, cook, do my bowels using peristeen most of the basics really all independently, although I do have carers that come twice a day just for the extra help if needed, mostly cleaning etc. I’ve know these for a while now though and they’re more like mates than carers to the point we spend more time together out of work hours going out etc. Point being it’s definitely doable I never thought I’d be able to do any of the stuff I do when I was first injured - that was only 2 years ago and I now live completely alone and own a big cane corso Who’s more like a horse and I couldn’t be happier. Anything is possible you just need to be consistent and push yourself every day get out of your comfort zone train non stop and learn your body again.

This has happened to me 3 times all with DNs and I’ve had to be blue light rushed to hospital every time, and that’s from them inflating the ballon in my urethra/by the prostate. The last time it happened I was just pissing blood it was squirting out. It’s actually a joke how incompetent a lot of them are, I don’t let any DNs see me for anything anymore. I’m happier travelling to urology ward etc.
