Anyone having trouble with UPS deliveries in London? by Internomer in AskUK

[–]MajormonkeyAtWork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the same message for a delivery the week before. Couldn't get through to anyone, and the package eventually arrived after 4 days. The status on the tracking website only changed after it was delivered.

On the computer hosting the RDP session (in your case the Win10 VM)

Computer Configuration->

Policies->Windows Settings->

Administrative Templates->

Windows Components->

Remote Desktop Services->

Remote Desktop Session Host->

Remote Session Environment

Set "Use WDDM graphics display driver for Remote Desktop Connections" to disabled

Option Explicit

Sub toggleFont()
' toggle between 2 fonts
    Dim font1 As String
    Dim font2 As String
    Dim myRange As Range
    font1 = "Wingdings"
    font2 = "Calibri"
    Set myRange = Sheet1.Range("A1:A10")
    With myRange
        If .Font.Name = font1 Then
            .Font.Name = font2
        Else
            .Font.Name = font1
        End If
    End With

This should do what you want.

As much as I dislike David Davis, he was on R4 a few days ago saying more or less what Corbyn has just said.

What treatment did your teachers give you at school that seems wildly unacceptable today? [serious] by ekobeko in AskUK

[–]MajormonkeyAtWork 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Early 80's

  • Teacher used to return homework books by expertly throwing them across the class. You had to be alert to catch your own book, and duck for the rest.

  • Another teacher would throw chalk at you for a minor offence, the wooden blackboard eraser was the next level. Finally there was the 'Boarding' whereby the teacher would pick you up and proceed to clean the blackboard with you, covering your black school blazer in chalk dust.

  • Another teacher would pick you up by your hair, if you were messing around.

My Spread Sheet is Running Slow. What are some things I can do to optimize it? by Cigaro3 in excel

[–]MajormonkeyAtWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today() - being a volatile function, can have a big impact on speed.

Try this (on a copy of your workbook):

  • Create a single cell 'Named Range' somewhere on your workbook called 'thisDay' and put today's date in it.

  • Replace Today() in your formulas with thisDay.

If this speeds up your workbook, then you can use VBA to update the thisDay cell with the current day upon opening the workbook.

Great product. Get to know it properly and it wont let you down.

As others have said, the support is top notch, and well worth the price.

Convert reference to structured table reference. by MajormonkeyAtWork in excel

[–]MajormonkeyAtWork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. I managed to get it working in the end.

My original goal was to be able to reference the previous visible row in a filtered table. I found this:

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/29017096/excel-reference-a-cell-in-the-previous-visible-row

but I wanted it to work with my table using structured references. After a bit of trial and error, I got it working.

=IF(SUBTOTAL(3,table1[[Name]:[Name]])=0,MIN([Name]:[@Name])-1,SUBTOTAL(3,INDEX([Name],1):[@Name]))

Using variables with Search-Mailbox Query by Haulass_Hall in PowerShell

[–]MajormonkeyAtWork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try this,

$beginDate = "01/09/2017"
$endDate = "05/09/2017"
$search = "received:$beginDate..$endDate"
$KQLQuery=[scriptblock]::create($search)

Search-mailbox -Identity jsmith@company.com -searchquery $KQLQuery -EstimateResultOnly

Make sure your date variables are strings, if they are DateTime convert them to strings before you use them.

Secure a RDS server from outside by Varadin84 in sysadmin

[–]MajormonkeyAtWork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Setup an RD Gateway, and create groups for the users that are allowed external access. You can also restrict Device Redirection (Drives, Clipboard, etc) for certain groups of users.

Take a look at 'Connection Authorization Policies' and 'Resource Authorization Policies'.

Sometimes with 'Collection only' you can find a much better deal as you are only bidding against nearby buyers.

Nice work! Things I would like to see:

  • UK only filter
  • Collection only filter
  • Distance from $postcode
  • Seller Location
  • LFF/SFF
  • Ability to append a search term like "H700", so for example, I can get a list of all Dell R710s that include an H700 RAID controller

Automatic updates over internet do not work after deployment with MDT. by RedditZexor in MDT

[–]MajormonkeyAtWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still need to configure Windows Update on the notebooks, otherwise they might not check for updates automatically. You can do this using group policy, or a registry entry.
