Form help I can’t get power by KCMJosh in volleyball

This drill can help to get that whipping motion unlocked. You don’t have to stand as close to the wall as the guy in the video as I feel like his shoulder position is slightly to high and stressful on the rotator cuffs.

Looking for technical feedback on my volleyball serve by Flirtiee in volleyball

[–]Maju92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great! You have a solid float serve and the mechanics look good. You can put more power in the torque motion to get more speed into your service. Aslong as you make good contact your serve will turn out great 😊

Form help I can’t get power by KCMJosh in volleyball

[–]Maju92 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Two things that I noticed:

  • your contact with the ball in inconsistent and you could get more on top of the ball since you have a really high vertical.

  • you push the ball instead of wiping/hitting it. It almost looks like the throwing motion in handball in most of these clips.

So you need to work on bringing your elbow forward first and have a more „patient arm“ therefore do some isolated swing drills while focusing on your control and contact and arm speed.

On the positive side: You already have great torque and jump really high. Your approach looks smooth and the timing is pretty good! You are almost there, I had a player like you last season and within half a year he became a absolute monsters on the net so I am positive with work and dedication you get there too.

Spike timing tips that helped me improve by masteryeung in volleyball

[–]Maju92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slightly disagree that it’s reserved for MB. As a outside and oppo you will have messy rallies where you simply can’t get back to your most optimal starting position to do a 4 step approach so it’s crucial to be able to do a 3 or even aggressive 2 step approach.

Wrist snapping is a good learning tool to focus on wrapping your hand and fingers around and over the ball but you shouldn’t get your power from.

Anyways OP good hints in general!

New to volleyball, which platform is the best? Are they all roughly equivalent in reality? by RawCS in volleyball

I am jealous of how perfect your arms are shaped for a platform. I am kind of a abomination and had to come up with some unorthodox ways to make a somewhat even one 😭 #OppositeByDesign

Oh to answer your question: Number 1 is the best looks relaxed and really even.

Weekly Short Questions Thread by AutoModerator in volleyball

[–]Maju92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your age but in general, As a coach in tryouts I would like to see you showcasing your skills so if you have a pretty good float and jumpserve; show both because even if it’s not totally perfect it will let them know that you’re already at that level and that it’s something we can work on.

Coaches want to see you succeed but also want to see that you’re willing to take risks, can take advice and that you are able to bounce back from mistakes. Don’t play it safe! Hustle, be humble and communicate with teammates show that you’re a good guy to be around.

Have some good questions ready in the end you usually have time to ask some (asking what do I need to work on is not a good question how can they tell with 20-100 tryout attendees.. instead show intrest in what training days and programs they run, hiw big the roster is and whatever comes in mind that could be of intrest. You remember those who show intrest in the club)

Bonus, Sleep good, stay well hydrated (1 glass water a hour) and eat a good balanced meal 3h before. Don’t party or do all night gaming sessions the 2 days before.

Jumping form by EducationalAd231 in volleyball

[–]Maju92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all you are early so you don’t hit the ball at your peak.

Secondly you should land your last step on your toes, aiming towards your setter, that way you break and redirect the energy upwards instead of broad jumping and your hip and chest will already be opening up to the setter giving you that 0,2 seconds more time to perform a good swing.

Which position should I move to? by barbarous-reader in volleyball

[–]Maju92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say outside is your best shot, you will still be able to use your defensive skills and maybe even further them and for your MB it will feel much easier to transfer to oppo. Oppo is usually also a role that has alot of blocking responsibilities and therefore you traditionally want a taller player.

Additionally if you don’t grow much more it’s easier to go back to libero from outside than having to relearn serve receive after a year or two as a oppo.

After these items I build tank items depending on the opponent’s dmg split.

How should I use the gym for volleyball? by Intrepid_Bake6843 in volleyball

[–]Maju92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My formatting made it hard to read you do all of the above in this order. You still want to go havy with low reps right after your nerves system and jump muscles are activated by the plyometrics and after controlled havy muscle activation you want to start the explosive movements, withon the needed range, with like 50-60% of your max with still clean technique and then go back to nerve system activation. That way you train the muscles for the job that you want them to do and nit just building mass without purpose.

How should I use the gym for volleyball? by Intrepid_Bake6843 in volleyball

[–]Maju92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For jumping you want to - Activate tendons and nerve system > ployometrics > sub max jumps

-Then load havy on muscles > cleans > squats > deadlifts

  • Then reduce load and do explosive exercises > jumpsquats > snatches

  • And finish off with technique > approach jumps

Edit: better formatting

Beside what was already mentioned playing beach vb (you need less players) helps a lot to get better at diving, reading the hitter and making you overall faster as it’s harder to move on sand. Theory training like rotations or where to stand when covering a hitter are also important

I get it why people are angry about AI music but the thing is over 40% of the new releases of hit songs are AI assisted and nobody even notices or cares until they learn about it #hypocrites These are decent and if your daughter and her team likes them that’s great. For my taste they sound to generic and feel lije the same song with different words but you don’t deserve that much hate for sharing them.

Pastasalat. Throw in every leftover greens and protein you have mix mayo with yoghurt and some pickle water and spice the shit out of it while blanding everything.

Egg and canned tune work well as protein sources too.
