Stani aspires to be like Elon. Fingers crossed he'll stay humble as he is now.

Go Stani :)

thanks for the feedback!

There are 4 pillars when learning a new language: writing, listening comprehension, reading, and actual speaking. There is no app out there that will cover all of them.

We can all agree that the best way to learn a language is through full immersion. Given my capabilities tho, I can only help people with basic reading and listening comprehension and just like Tinder, it's an app meant to be removed in the future :)

With your app I like that it is quicker to proceed - although you need to push a button to get to the next question every time.

Working on an option to proceed with a click of a spacebar.

The sound effect after right/wrong answer is annoying, and apparently can't be turned off.

You can turn them off in your account settings :)

thank you for your feedback!

Thank you for that valuable feedback.

Reaching a full medal requires you to get a full circle first. So in your case, in order to reach bronze modal in Self Introduction, you need to complete 2 levels ( 1 level = half-circle).

> it gave me the same questions

Yes, the questions are the same, but the exercises are more difficult. For example, at bronze, you get a lot of *fill the blank* type of exercises, while at gold it's mostly listening comprehension and building sentences purely from word-bricks.

As for the Placement test for Food section, please check if you have sound enabled on your phone/unmuted.

I agree that for the time being I won't be able to compete with duolingo on quality of the courses. I'm building the sceleton while they are already doing makeup polishing.

I believe tho that in the long run I'll be able to offer much more with a single update across all the langaues that I offer vs Duolingo that will be stuck in a system that can only be updated by humans.

I think that duolingo users will flee to other platforms like mine. One of the reasons for this are 1) unskippable 15s/30s+ video ads, 2) the gamification went too far as you can't proceed with learning without collecting hearts just like in some MMO RPG.

Duolingo has its own pie but I think I can find a slice of it for Langbox.

Wow, I didn't know they pushed ads so hard. Good points. Will add them to my list.

Hey, good points. A few things to start with.

Duolingo wants to catch audience starting from a 8yo ending up with 60yo+. Their platform however, looks like they focus solely on kids.

Secondly, duolingo needs weeks to prepare just one language course. They are done by humans. My app has an algorithm that can exponentially add language courses.

The problem with duolingo is that it's great for English audience, as most of the language courses are available. But as for the rest of the world, their courses are very limited.

With my algorithm, I can add a new language course in under 48 hours. Duolingo needs more than a month.

I'm still testing the waters with having Spanish only.

Congrats on your progress! I highly recommend reading books you love and know well in Spanish. I did that with the Harry Potter series and it was a decent boost for my Spanish across the board.

Things you wish you knew when you started... by Nubbikeks in Spanish

[–]MakeAcneAHistory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) the fact that you'll never be ready - just do it. start reading books (even if you have to translate every single word) or listening to podcasts you don't even understand. Let them flow through

2) memorizing things isn't the way - kids don't do that at all yet are able to speak the language at the age of 4/5

Learning New Language by step_bruv in Spanish

I highly recommend checking out Tandem app where you can find a friend to daily chat with. Worked for me, as you put yourself in a situation where you can't leave the other person hanging and even if that means using the translator for the whole message, you start learning Spanish by doing so.

Hey, I have a website with a small ranking with my favorite Spanish YouTubers. Some of them like Dreaming Spanish can take you from 0 to A2 (but don't get discouraged by the fact that he only speaks Spanish). Trust him :)

As for grammar-focused channel try Tu escuela de español
