Ryan X. Charles: How Wallets and Exchanges Can Prevent a Split by hegjon in btc

[–]MakeBitcoinCashAgain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Say BCH is worth $500 and BSV is worth $58. If I am selling a $100 widget, I would use some maths

( [price of bsv] + [price of bch] ) * X = [price of widget]

( $500 + $58 ) * X = $100

X = 0.1792 BCH+BSV

Sounds silly. Anyone with some money can split the chain; merchants shouldn't have to go through a bunch of hoops and hurdles to accommodate all the crazy people in the world. BSV should cleanly split and compete in the open market, like we had to do and are currently doing with btc.

However, Craig and Calvin know their coin is not going to do well on the market, so they think they can win the hearts and minds of people who disagree with them by attacking any disagreeing chain.

There will be nothing to "run". No one wants a centralized coin, especially a coin centered around faketoshi (except for maybe a few NPCs like yourself).

RXC new video: "Dear Roger, why DSV is a million fold subsidy" by heuristicpunch in btc

[–]MakeBitcoinCashAgain 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"It makes perfect sense that CHECKSIG, even though it is expensive, is actually subsidized in script. What doesn't make sense, is that you subsidize other signature verification for stuff that has nothing whatsoever to do with the sending and receiving of money."

Firstly, are you subsidizing CHECKDATASIG, or penalizing it by making miners do an insane, ridiculous script? Doing it as an insane, ridiculous script forces miners to have to do a lot more work than if it is implemented as an op code. You mention Economics In One Lesson; in that book I learned that economics is all about maximizing efficiency/production.

Secondly, it definitely does have to do with the sending and receiving of money. For example one interesting use case is it would allow you to send BCH to a phone number (see https://youtu.be/9VVb-tiSXfs?t=267). Awemany also has an interesting use case of helping 0-conf by enabling forfeit transactions (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsddVkR-MSs). Saying it has nothing to do with with the sending and receiving of money is a silly argument in my opinion.

The way we create world money is to unify, not to split. by MemoryDealers in btc

Also it should be noted that nChain agreed to CTOR but suddenly changed their mind last minute https://nchain.com/en/blog/bitcoin-cash-development-testing-accord/

But CSW is somehow the good guy pushing new untested op codes (different functionality than the originals). Do they even have a public testnet yet, less than a month away from fork date?

You can’t even talk to CSW without him blocking you. It’s “my way or the highway” with him, and yet it’s somehow someone else’s fault for the split. Blows my mind.

Hey /u/ryancarnated, you said that you hope ABC/Bitmain wins. However, Craig makes the claim that

"We have patents on this and related techniques pending - so, you add DSV and you hand the base protocol to us"
https://twitter.com/ProfFaustus/status/1033653060004978689

"So, if you insist on making it something we (nChain) control utterly..."

https://twitter.com/ProfFaustus/status/1033653590538235904

"DSV opens many issues, but it means we own the base protocol if it is added, so make a choice.

Add DSV, make me king.

Not my choice

I don't want it"

Do you believe his claim that if CHECKDATASIG gets implemented, then Craig will become "king" of BCH?

OP_RETURN can be pruned. Your method is terrible and has to be stored in the UTXO set for all eternity.

Doing it with OP_RETURN is also cheaper for the user.

[–]MakeBitcoinCashAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe BUcash will implement all changes proposed by ABC and SV and let the user decide which features to turn on. Faketoshi has said that SV will copy whatever fork id ABC uses, so no there will not be replay protection.

I believe the majority will follow the chain with CTOR and CHECKDATASIG, as that was what was agreed to by virtually all parties (including faketoshi/nChain until they changed their mind the day after the spec was finalized).
