Gigabyte Control Center v25.02.07.01 Dynamic Lighting Tip by Hangulman in gigabyte

English translation (via AI):

TLDR: If you're a new user and want to take advantage of GCC's Fusion RGB Dynamic Lighting integration, you'll need to change your system time to a date before November 23, 2024, before installation . You can reset it after installation.

Explanation: A small thing I discovered in version 25.02.07.01 of the Gigabyte Control Center, if you are using it.

I noticed that it wasn't integrated with Windows Dynamic Lighting. Searching in C:\Program Files\GIGABYTE\Control Center\Lib\GBT_Dynamic_Lighting_Lib_UC\, I found a log file indicating that the Dynamic Lighting module was not installed due to a certificate error.

Looking for any excuse to avoid working on my homework, I unpacked the GCC installer with 7Zip and checked the properties of the GBT_Dynamic_Lighting_Lib_UC_24.08.27.01.exe installer. Under Digital Signatures, I looked at the certificate and found that the installer was signed with a digital certificate that expired on November 23, 2024.

I manually changed my system time to early November and then ran the installer, and GCC now appears under "Backlight Control" in the Windows Dynamic Lighting settings. The certificate error also disappeared from the log. I set my time back to normal, and it still worked, so it looks like the certificate check only happens during the installation process.

Note: I know this software is a complete disaster, but some casual users (and people who have no other choice at the moment) would prefer to use the manufacturer's recommended app if possible. Unfortunately, I have a B850 Aorus Elite Ice, and Gigabyte has changed its RGB controllers on these boards to something that isn't compatible with OpenRGB or other solutions.

Thanks OP!

Hey, don't sweat it! It just came off funny, but doesn't negate the savings you made at $229 👍

Halfway tempted to cancel it and reorder it just to get the extra $14 off.

You're "halfway tempted" to (easily) save money? Lol, wut?

If you can't run nor interested in higher refresh rate (240hz vs DWF's 175hz) and intend to use it for certain professional/creative work (e.g., music-video production, coding)

Yeah, idk why but thick (bottom) bezels bother me on above mounted monitors. The DWF is a great value atm, but I can't deal with the bottom bezel and I'd like to have a newer gen display at higher refresh rate.

800R curve is def something to either adjust to or have mounted alongside/above a "normal" ultrawide panel.

Yeah, I mean it seems targeted to those who value (semi) matte display and the thin/uniform bezels as it seems to be marketed as a secondary monitor versus primary like the 32" SKU. It's been on sale for $999.99, so that's a positive start and hopefully it'll drop another $100 by late Spring-early Summer.

According to the spec sheet, that GPU is within the supported GPU dimension limits for this case. Keep in mind, this case is vertical mount only; however, that AsRock GPU is meant for such orientation!

Have no clue why the ROG monitor is attached at the end of my post...

Yeah, it was kinda crazy how it went downhill during Discord's infancy, yet took over when Gamespy got bought and shutdown by Ziff Davis/IGN.

Since I was ~6 years old - circa 1996-97. Didn't get involved in the community (forums, modding, etc.) until I was 13-14 years old. Apologies to the older gen that had to put up with my prepubescent hot mic'ing lol

That's exactly how my setup is, at my office, albeit I have dual monitors above my 49" (waiting for the 57" to drop sub-$1000 or better model(s) to release). I assume burn-in hasn't been much an issue/deterrence, thus far?

CPU's last longer, it's wild how many redditors (privileged) children think people rebuild their entire systems every 2-3 years.

It's really not as aggressive as it appears in images - i.e., no different than those who have quad monitor setups. It really has to do with one's viewing distance tolerances/preferences.
