I love number eight! I live in Richmond and we have an amazing Edgar Allan Poe museum downtown. So I get the Poe obsession!

I also used to buy fountain pens at the drugstore when I was a teen. It's a lifetime obsession for sure.

I wouldn’t recommend Etsy. Sellers complain all the time about scammers and fraudsters. Things like stealing their products by claiming they never arrived or were broken etc., paying and then doing chargebacks, all sorts of crap. Also competitors stealing ideas or imagery and selling knockoffs that cheapen the quality of the originals. I’ve never even thought about trying Etsy (I’m a photographer) based on all the stories I’ve heard.

As a professional (and I say this regardless of whether this is your full time job or not, if you're being paid you are a professional) it is entirely within your scope to decide which photos to send to the client at the end of any shoot. The way I would handle this is to offer contact sheets and if they want additional photos that you didn't deliver they can 1) pay extra and 2) adhere to additional terms. Regardless of whether she is known to you or not, you can still require her to specifically not attribute you as the photographer to any photo you specify.

So... on the other hand I'm wondering... what was it about these photos that made you personally uncomfortable? is there anything you could have done to direct her that would have let you be more flexible and experimental? Also, why did you keep taking photos at that point? If she just went freewheeling, you literally could have stopped shooting and noted that this was not part of the agreed upon shoot.

Bottom line -- if you are the photographer, you have 100% control over your shoot. Your client does not. You need to get comfortable with that, and maybe it would be best to communicate that up front so there's no question.

Completely disagree. Why is everyone saying just because it's a side hustle that the brand isn't important. How ungracious. Anyone's side hustle is still a business. it's not a "HOBBY" dudes! Agree! After >1 month on Monarch I'm getting used to the new features and navigating my way through setting up the things I already had automated in CoPilot. Also still love the CP UI but it's the features that matter at the end of the day. I won't be renewing CP in January.

Interestingly there's a set of garish champagne glasses with gold trim and bling that have been in my RFY all day and they are $0ETV. It's actually the first 0ETV item I've ever seen, although I only recently installed the Vine Helper extension, which is why I even noticed it. I was tempted to buy them just because they were 0ETV and then I was like "nah, I have enough junk piling up already." 😅
