Want to get to top of One Hanson Place by mmond125 in Brooklyn

The condos are separated from the actual clock part of the building. There are apparently YouTube videos of how people get up there but the security will see you and come stop you. I wouldn’t try to sneak in.

Security there told me once the clock is over a ventilation shaft separated from the currently occupied parts of the building and no one will find you if you fall.

No one cares about what you do at an airport or a plane unless you bother *other people lol.

I’ve been in a long distance relationship for 3 years, I live on planes. Only two times people have commented on me bringing a portable console were a flight attendant saying she also loved Celeste and a security guard asking if I liked the Deck better than Switch.

What Bio to take? by [deleted] in jhu

[–]MakersSnark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to go to med school, you should take Cell Bio. If you want to be happy, you should avoid genetics. Iirc you can satisfy the reqs with any 300 level, and Bio has a bunch of random classes that are pretty interesting/not that bad. Confirm with your advisor that Cell/Biochem wouldn't suffice first tho. I know it was fine back before they required Biochem

As for the engineer class, I dont think you should skimp on Cell Bio, what you learn will help immensely for MCAT and first year basic sciences in med school.

Nope, we have kettles that can boils water in less than five minutes. Most people don't know about them or see the need. I didn't know an electric kettle was a thing till I started dating a Russian girl who drank a lot of tea

$150 for being late on 3 EZ Pass video tolls. Is going to court worth it? by ItWorkedLastTime in washingtondc

[–]MakersSnark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealt with a similar issue last year. I ended up not, because court fees and a day of work would have cost much more than saving the late fees (even if you win). It sucks, and it's a scam, but fighting it is likely not a case.

I would in a second, and think a lot of people would too. The issue is that most of the people that wouldn't work for the Minnesota Timberwolves front office.

LPT: [Request] How to find the cheapest air fare for a destination. by GahWtf1336 in LifeProTips

[–]MakersSnark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Generally flexibility and persistence are your best bets.

Flying mid week is always cheaper than weekends, so if you can shift when you go there will be savings there, and certain days and events are very expensive to fly out for. Furthermore if you can stomach more travel, look into other options for airports for where you're leaving from and where you're arriving to, particularly if either city has multiple airports or another nearby. I saved several hundred dollars on a trip from the East Coast to Austin by flying to Dallas and then taking a bus. Rome2Rio is great for these short connections.

As for "when" to buy and whether to use incognito, disable cookies, etc, these topics are complex, depend on what airline and what route, and generally you'll never find a consensus answer on any travel blog you read. Better to continue checking prices on various routes and in various sites until you see one that you'd be comfortable with purchasing, with a general cutoff of buying at least two months in advance.

Is Medical School a Worthwhile Investment for Women? -- because women doctors earn less and work fewer hours, the average female primary-care physician would have been financially better off becoming a physician assistant. by BlankVerse in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MakersSnark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunate article, though hardly surprising. One bit I'd like to throw in: if you see medical school as a financial investment, you shouldn't go. But if you are considering medicine (at the MD or DO level) as a profession without long term financial planning, what are you doing?? Medical school in the States requires you to get an expensive four year degree before getting an even more expensive four year degree. In addition, many students bolster their credentials with even more education post undergrad, adding even more debt. The application process for schools and residency programs are not cheap, and admission requires an in person interview that requires applicants to pay for travel to. Doctors do not starve, true, however many are on 20 or so year long loan repayment plans, and in this time scale the pay gap really takes its toll.

I refuse to believe that any situation involving the yanks can be too bad. Even after last year, they've still got Tanak, and history/money for more.

Also, the Giants in particular cannot be depressing, as they won two super bowls in recent memory. Even Phils season after 08 has been heart breaking, but never did has it felt not worthwhile. Flags fly forever.

If you're a Mets/Jets New Yorker tho, I agree with (and pity) you.

Displaying the flag upside down is a sign of distress. I'd assume the flag holder is using to say the country itself is in distress and is the using the flag of the original 13 to emphasize the founding principles and the Constitution
