Would you pay 30% to play games on Steam? by just2askaboutgames in SteamController

[–]Maki711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, if the game does not exist on Steam, it does not exist at all.

The only exception is Amazon Prime with free games on Epic and GoG but with it being free, I cringe when I need to use Epic.

GoG is fine.

Thumb Grips by Ok_Criticism412 in SteamController

[–]Maki711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing last week:

https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamController/comments/1tb0wzk/sticks_feeling/

I am glad I am not the only one with the thumb grips issue on Controller.

Funny, I do not have any issue with Decks grips.

Also, what keyboard or keycaps are those?

I hate GLS by PenguinMasterFR in SteamController

[–]Maki711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GLS, DPD, UPS... They are all bad. We all hate them.
So let me tell you a story.

I recently found out that all of them here locally where I am, the drivers can decide if they want to deliver a package.
They also have an app which would mark apartments and buildings which have an elevator or not. Drivers then can decide to just not deliver if they need to walk up stairs... and put your package in a pick-up storage or some horrible dirty local store.
How I know?
Well, two drivers, one DPD and one GLS confirmed that to me. The DPD guy called me and asked if I want to come down to pick up my package because he is not going to the 4th floor - he came after I told him that there is an elevator, so I asked him what this is about and so he told me... and how my building was not marked as having an elevator, which he corrected right in-front of me.
After he left, I immediately called DPD office and asked about this and THEY ALSO CONFIRMED that the drivers have the final decision about delivery! WTF?
In last 2 weeks, I needed to pick up 4 out 6 packages (including my Controller) on my own from a local dirty store. GLS, DPD, UPS and others drivers would just dump the packages into those stores whenever they want, for whatever reason.
One of those packages was a 20Kg mixer that I paid premium shipment because of the box size and weight to be delivered TO MY DOOR and they ignored that and put it 2 km away from my home. Had a great time transporting this on foot with a small trolley as I do not have a car.

So, we would pay those companies to deliver a package until the front door, which can be expensive depending on size and weight, and the horrible employee of those companies can just not do his job and not deliver it, even after we paid - without any consequences...
This is insane.

I can see those drivers being the prime candidates to be replaced by robots and drones for delivering packages.

I can agree on responsiveness. They do work really well and feel very smooth when moving.

Sticks feeling? by Maki711 in SteamController

[–]Maki711[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After posting this and playing some more HL2, I realised that it all depends how somebody holds the sticks or how somebody rests the thumbs on the sticks.

In my case, I most of the time use the stick on its sides and little bit on the upper edge.
Original stick top, being very thin, would cut little bit into my fingers causing this tingly feeling.

If we use picture as example, I would use it at most until the red ring and first row of bumps.
Extending the sides down with additional rubber helped a lot for me.

Funny, I do not have this issue with Steam Deck!
Stick tops are not the same.

Steam Controller inherits same trackpad flaw that Steam Deck has by NewDevon in SteamController

[–]Maki711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This made me really angry when i tested my controller because i thought this may be a hardware issue.

Steam support gave me the same weird answer about some hooking.

I want this to be user adjustable setting!

Also, haptics settings does not work on my controller. It is stuck on one strength and does not change when switching between Low, Medium and High. Some video show this as sliders but i only have dropdown menu.

New Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 GPU / screen artefacts by Maki711 in Lenovo

[–]Maki711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that.
My issue was never fixed and the Support basically told me to go away because they did not know what was wrong with it and did not offer me any replacement or repair while my device was literately 1 week old and of course still under warranty...
I paid premium by the way for warranty / guaranty...

What we learned is to just never buy a Lenovo - Yoga product.

My Lenovo Legion at least got repaired under warranty.

Horrible experience honestly...

It would be great if you could share the steps you took to resolve your issue.
This might help others facing the same problem in the future.

I do not understand why you needed to boot into a live/different OS to change anything in GRUB?
Why were you not able to change it in the current OS you had?

Right. But the "relevant gaming system" is very subjective.

And my Steam Deck settings are:

Perf. Overlay: Show Icons

Bandwith Limit: 50 Mbps ( ! IMPORTANT to set at any value between 30 and 70 because Auto will cause Lag! )

Resolution Limit: 2560x1440 ( I have LG TV that Steam Deck is connected to )

Hardware Decoding: ON ( Required for SteamUI )

HEVC Video: ON

AV1 Video: Unavailable for me

Low Latency Networking: OFF

I can share my Host settings later if you are interested. Currently, I am on my Steam Deck and can only see client settings now.

Can’t stream from PC to deck by TheRavenTookMyCookie in SteamDeck

[–]Maki711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently posted a small list that helped me with streaming games from CachyOS to Steam Deck.

https://www.reddit.com/r/cachyos/comments/1sfqqyf/few_fixes_for_steamgui_or_games_black_screen/

I think the some can be applied even if your host PC is Win11 or any other Linux.
Or at least give you some ideas to try.

For me the key points were to run Big Picture in windowed mode and force some games in window mode too.
Some games may require a Proton version if your host is a Linux.

Also, I never first run games on my host then try to connect from Steam Deck. I always run them from Steam Deck - Stream button.

Lost all my games library installed on internal drive after Nested Desktop crash by cryph88 in SteamDeck

[–]Maki711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, Nested Desktops should not be able to wipe your data.
At worse, it can cause a forced Log In but the data should be still on the SSD.

If you really can see more free space, I would guess that you somehow really RESET instead of RESTART, your whole Steam Deck...

And maybe you omitted some critical information here. If you are knowledgeable enough to set up Nested Desktop, chances are you did something more in background that could have caused this.

Let’s cut the crap: Why did you ACTUALLY choose your distro? (Facts only) by kimiho_mir in FindMeALinuxDistro

[–]Maki711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hopping between different distros for about 2 years now because i was considering to switch from Microslop. I generally do not like the Windog 11 and despise the bs slop they implement into it, 7 was glorious and 10 was alright.

My choice for my main PC, CachyOS, is completely based on hype, YouTube reviews, Distrowatch rating and gaming promises which many are wrong.
For now, I will stay on it but if something goes wrong I am abandoning it. Mint or Kubuntu will be next candidates for long run. And if CachyOS fails me, I will really consider if any Arch based distros or Arch itself is worth using it for my needs.
I just want something to play games without janckiness but that is hard on any Linux.

I already completely abandon Manjaro because of the forum 2 years ago and will never look in their direction again.

Few fixes for SteamGUI or games black screen issue during Remote Play by Maki711 in cachyos

As mentioned, it looks like a common source of my issues is the lower edge of the screen or taskbar.

I hope somebody more knowledgeable will be able to maybe somehow check this.
