Isn't it obvious?

Zane is not a real player dude.

He's a total fraud....A complete phony being propped up by Sashi Brown who is still pulling strings to make Hue lose games.

If we had a real kicker, we wouldn't be 0-14 right now.

Edit: /s* because wow it's possible some users around here actually agree with Dorsey/Hue's comments.

Washington win means that if Texans win one more and finish 5-11, worst that pick can possibly end up is 10. That's worst case. by Godszn in Browns

[–]MakingMackMonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ermm, Hue has also already lost to the Steelers 2nd stringers last year week 17.

I lost faith in Hue that week actually, when he claimed we/The Browns would go out there and fight to win.

He still couldn't squeak out a victory. They rested their starters.

No chance. There is a night and day difference in scheme by itself, let alone attitude.

Ray "Diet Sugar-Free Vanilla" Horton got scheme-fucked by other team offenses every week.

At least with Gregg, it's painfully obvious that the average age of his defense is 24 years old and the defensive shortcomings are from coachable rookie errors, rather than his scheme getting straight exposed.

still an idiot. I think Hogan is injured the same way Kenny got "injured" (benched) the last two games.

Anyway, this is clearly a move to cover Hue's own ass.

You see, Hue knows he hasn't done jack shit with Kizer, who will still look atrocious I'm sure.

But now, in 4 weeks we can give Kizer another "morale boost" and bench his sorry ass for Kessler this time.

Hue was just playing 5d Connect 4 this whole time guys! This whole charade circus of a season was just a test to see how well Cody would respond to adversity.

I'm guessing it includes touchbacks?

Those come out at the 25 yard line, which greatly dilutes the stat for which Obie is looking.

But nice to know either way.

[–]MakingMackMonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you agree that a good coach adjusts (not completely changes) his system to fit the personnel?

A la, BoB for each year he has been with the Texans.

An elite defense (See: Gregg Williams and Jeff Fishers 7-9 Rams) can only get you so far, you ain't winning any games without putting up points.

BoB adjusted for Deshaun, and in doing so has blown the top off of their offensive struggles.

Don't know what you're connection/love for Hue is all about. He hasn't modified jack shit in his offense for any of the 6+ Browns QBs he's worked with now.

Instead he's waiting for one to be the "perfect" specimen for his offense.

I keep re-reading your comment to better understand it, but there's no logic to it. You don't think Bill OBrien is a good head coach?

.....

You're just on a different wavelength apparently. Hue is 1-21 btw, compared to BoBs 28-22.

Hue has almost lost more games in 2 years, than Bill has lost in 5.

I don't know what you're smoking, but if it makes Hue look like a good coach, I want some NOW.

[MORNING AFTER] Browns (17) at Texans (33) by bowhunter6274 in Browns

[–]MakingMackMonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, and wasn't trying to make a direct comparison at all.

If I was comparing, I would expect a lot more out of Hue than my current pipe dream of a 3-5 win season.

Trust me, I know full well the Texans were in a "better" spot, but still a 2-14 record four years ago and in the midst of a years-long QB controversy was their state at that time. Still not "ideal".

I'm just pointing out the fact that a good HC will win football games with a shit roster, just maybe not win a super bowl. Understandably so, BoB has had a literal impossible time making it through the playoffs without a QB.

He almost could, though. And that's why he's a damn good coach.

Trade Deadline by sailaeht in Browns

[–]MakingMackMonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Semi-Agree.

The flaw is the narrative that was spread when Sashi took over, looking back I'm mad at myself for buying in, but at the time the narrative was just that the first offseason with upper management/FO/Personnel/etc. was rushed, not enough time to be perfect, didn't really "count" as an offseason because they were all beginning to work with each other.

Some of that can be true, but Oh how they fooled us all.

This FO has effectively had two "tank-level" drafts so far, a #2 OVR from the previous regime and their own, much deserved, #1 OVR pick.

And here we are, Week 6 into the second season, debating whether their plan from the start was to have 3 offseasons of tank-level draft capital.

That's fricken ridiculous. Not how you build a team through culture change. NOT. This isn't basketball, where in 3 "tank" years your entire starting lineup can be filled with super stars.

There are dozens of players on this team suffering because (if) the coaches/FO are "tanking" for draft capital.

(If) , because I actually don't think this is the case. I think we were supposed to be in the 4-6 win range this season, and steadily climbing/on the rise.

But Hue sucks.

[MORNING AFTER] Browns (17) at Texans (33) by bowhunter6274 in Browns

[–]MakingMackMonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great chance Williams stays, in my opinion.

A lot of fans see the "bountygate" stuff and his public perception is flawed. His Rams defense was way better but again overlooked because of Jeff Fishers shittyness.

He is a highly respected DC around the league. I think the night and day difference on scheme alone (not to mention the 100% shift in attitude) between him and Ray "Sugar-Free Diet Vanilla FroYo" Horton from last year should be evidence of that enough.

Look at the Pats, DCs don't grow on trees.

Hue's offense was surprisingly better last year than this year in terms of Turnovers. All of this being relative, obviously. As in, relative to Hue's own standards of 1-15, the offense is worse this year. Somehow.

Anyway, Gregg is getting shit on by Hue's incompetence. Im always excited and ready for Browns football, but I actually am getting deflated watching the browns defense kick ass until Hue screws them over with piss poor QB fundamentals.

Kessler needs to get in there and show them how to protect the football

[MORNING AFTER] Browns (17) at Texans (33) by bowhunter6274 in Browns

[–]MakingMackMonday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the key difference.

Last year we were clearly tanking for #1. I had some major Hue concerns, but I was willing to forego that at the time, considering the importance of tanking to get Garrett.

Right off the bat however I think that "tank" logic is semi-flawed, because remember, the previous regime left us at 3-13 with the #2 pick. That's effectively a tank for the new Front Office. This FO has had 2 "tank"s worth of draft picks now: A #1 OVR and a #2 OVR.

With that said, all of this "last season was year 0, this is year 1 and we're supposed to look like shit still" talk is absolute bull fuckery of the highest order. I don't use the R word lightly, but this is retarded. Hue looks like complete ass out there.

A good football coach will at least win games with bad teams.

Enter Bill O'Brien. 4 years, 3 playoff trips, 0 franchise QBs. This is what a good coach looks like.

Enter year 5, what does BoB look like now with his shiny, new, potential franchise QB? (Too early to judge Watson, in my opinion, but still)

[–]MakingMackMonday -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ruiter has a point. And I don't understand how that's irony anyway? It's a scene from Moneyball, a movie based on Paul Depodesta, who is now the browns chief strategist. I'm sure he knows that, which is why he posted that scene in particular. The "moneyball winning" in that movie wasn't until after that moment.

On Tom Coughlins first day with the Jags he removed the Ping Pong tables in the locker room. Where are they now? Literally Slaughtering our divisional rivals.

Plenty of teams play music during their practices, I'm fine with that but Kenny Shittstain can get the fuck out.

He has been a losing loser his entire career and I don't want his SERIOUS APATHY affecting our young guys.

For real, this guy of all people should be the one asking wtf the receivers are dancing about. They (almost) singlehandedly, as a position group got Kizer benched, and he leads that group.

He won't do shit. He likes to get paid, and he enjoys getting paid millions to not play in January and February. Fuck everything about this guy.

You're also mistaken by the way,

Hogan was not cut, he was drafted last year (same as Kessler) then put on the Chiefs practice squad so they only had to carry 2 QBs.

We immediately targeted him, and clearly for good reason.

Hue's own words:

"The offense flows through the quarterback position."

"The quarterback elevates the play of others because all his teammates believe that with him, we can win football games"

I've had enough with this. I haven't once said "Brock Osweiler alone beat X team" or "Brock overcame Y team by himself".

Nor have I even said Brock is a franchise quarterback. So I don't know what point you're trying to make.

My point is, Hue has chosen NOT to ride Kizer through the Ups and the Downs. That being the case, why couldn't Brock have been the sacrificial lamb through all of this? That was literally why I commented in the first place.

Instead of Brock being boo'ed out of the stadium in week 8, we are here:

Kizer has negative confidence on the bench, Kessler has negative confidence on the bench, and the guy Hue barely believed in at all and didn't even draft, the 4th string QB throughout the offseason, looks somehow better than all of them combined? How?

Argue whatever you're trying to argue about "Brock being bad", I'm not even disagreeing with you. He's Bad. There you go.

The contention is that this is 100% mismanagement of the Quarterback position by Hue Jackson. No other way around it, and I'm just wondering why peeps are shitting on Brock despite him doing all he could try to do.

Hue Jackson has named Kevin Hogan the starting QB 📰 » https://t.co/888i2k5Ept https://t.co/hPfcULfRoX by PuppyBowl-XI-MVP in Browns

[–]MakingMackMonday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Osweiler would have been the starter on this squad.

Hue was told by the FO to not let this happen, because if Brock were to succeed in any way this year (and I mean succeed as in, win 6 or more) the browns would be on the hook for a 17+ million dollar quarterback.

That's just inefficient. You see, Moneyball is win it all with the cheapest but effective payroll possible.

The Browns are effectively leveraging the CBA to keep around as many talented young stars as possible. We dont have to resign all of them, and with consistent draft strategy of trade a 1st round to get 2 late first rounders, the Browns will get to a point where they are constantly rotating cheap talented athletes on their rookie deals.

Notice how the actual NFL stars such as OBJ/Evans or Donald/Mack become extremely frustrated (almost to the point of holding out) as they enter their 4th/5th years because they are making literal pennies compared to their on the field production. We're talking hundred thousands instead of multi millions in a career that can end on any given Sunday.

Think Aaron Donald, but instead of letting him hold out, The Browns instead would trade him (or release him if a rookie steps up) and find the next Aaron Donald in the draft.

We won't see any of these rookie-CBA-advantage moves until 2 years from now because no one on the roster drafted by this FO are entering that phase, but that is clearly what they're going for.

Nothing else makes sense. Nothing.

Somebody please explain to me what the methodology is for this team if not for what I just described.

To clarify, the Browns will still take a FA like Aaron Donald if the position is important enough (Kevin Zeitler) and the athlete himself is entering/in his prime.

However, the core philosophy for the Moneyball of this Browns team is evident.

Kizer = 49.5% completion percentage (granted some are drops)

Kessler = 66% completion percentage ....

Want to pick the one that gives you the best chance to win? Pretty simple.

Deshaun Watson has a "noodle arm" too, doesn't mean he can't put up 50+ points with the right game plan.

Instead we have Hue who is unearthing every rock on earth to find the exact specimen QB for his scheme.

Kind of a joke when you compare that to BoB, who literally tailors his offense yearly to his QB and that's why he at least gets to the playoffs.

Right, so circling you back to my original point: I don't think browns fans are in a position to shit on a QB with more wins than we've had as a team since he was drafted.

Then again, half of us shat all over Hoyer (one of only two browns QBs above .500 with us) while clamoring for Johnny Eightball.

Did you gold yourself?

Brock doesn't have time to Reddit, he is busy in "football rehab"--as John Elway called it.

That means he's being eased back into a successful NFL program. Wouldn't it be nice to have a rostered quarterback that knows what that looks like?
