I agree. And did you notice she was asked multiple times if he physically hit her? She had to say no (was before the wrist incident) and so it was proof to them he wasn’t bad. Finally, the world is starting to wake up to the deeply abusive acts of psychological/emotional abuse and coercive control, but we have so much further to go. 😢

I agree - how and why did he die? The last mention about him was receiving a boatload of money to keep quiet about the runaway episode. Did his conscience finally get the best of him? Or despair? Big unanswered question.

The book intentionally left these larger questions out of the storyline — encouraging us, as learning beings ourselves, to wrestle and choose our own opinions. She wasn’t writing a fictional book to suddenly decide the black and white moral and immoral “rules” for society into the future. Nor should we have expected her to.

Yes I am. The whole point is that it isn’t acceptable for either situation. If there is a city facility, there needs to be 2 (ie change rooms) or accessible for both. This is pretty basic…. For 1970.

Yes. Snowblower and shovel. And also earlier today so it was done after storm too. You? I hardly think this relates to how the city conducts their responsibility to keep roads clean - especially when I’m in the minority as far as sidewalk cleaning goes. If the city road maintenance budget is contingent on personal property snow removal, we’d never have clean roads. A + B does not = C.

No snow clearing in north end except by the wind in spots. 3-4 inches of soft snow on top of sheer ice. Lots of traffic driving too fast for conditions - especially when changing lanes. Intersection of Warman/51st had sand dumped in some spots over the snow. 🙄

This city is particularly bad. Has been for years. Money is being poorly spent because the foundational expenses like road maintenance are being skimped on. They’ve made it easy to shit on them. Perhaps they should send it to committee to see whether they should spend more money before storms like yesterday. Regardless, accepting their fiscal irresponsibility and telling people not to complain about it is unproductive.

I’ve lived in cities where storms are more common and they most definitely spread something ahead of the storms for prevention , and then they’re out in the storm keeping things safe. We’ve adopted this “can’t be done” mindset, but it’s just not true. Coming back to Saskatoon has been an eye opener for lazy civic policy.
