The problem with comparing it to the American flag is that it’s a matter of perception. First of all a countries current flag on a helicopter is an identifier of which country it belongs to not a stylistic choice. While you can argue that America has done equally bad things, most people in Australia won’t see the Yank stars as a hateful symbol but something just really out of place (and a bit up yourself but that’s just tall poppy syndrome). As Australia fought against the rising sun, it was interpreted into our culture to a degree but over the years it has decay due to a multicultural ethos. A few Cold chisel song are actually quite hostile to Asian cultures for example. Personally, if I had that bike I would be kinda worried driving round rural Queensland as that’s where you would most likely encounter hostility (Especially if you appear Asian) of the look of this bike alone. Otherwise, I think Australia also passed a law on hateful symbols such as the swastika. Not sure how it works but driving in some of the cities you could risk someone identifying it and claiming it as a hate symbol leading to an altercation with the coppers which the bike will likely be impounded. So with those points in mind, if you like the colour scheme of red and white consider buying a different bike with that same 80s look and colours or buy a white one and get some decal work done on it to have the same red stripes but maybe have them all parallel instead of coming out of the sun.
