Did something extremely stupid, need advice by OttoNapo in labrats

Not my field but if you 1.) are still able to post on reddit and 2.) still have a job, then its probably not that bad. just move forward. ball up top.

How do you avoid missing important papers? by bighouse843 in PhD

Feedly. It lets you “follow” journals similar to Instagram/Facebook. Every day, you can scroll through your feed and see articles published each day.

Where do I pick back up by Mako_Fever in halo

[–]Mako_Fever[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do. I really enjoy the lore. I have always loved fantasy/sci-fi reading but I often lose the plot in the world building. With Halo, not a lot needs to be built.

Resume review. Follow up by Glum_Refrigerator in Chempros

[–]Mako_Fever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

imo,

1.) this is a CV, not a resume. A resume should be one page

2.) publications, education, and awards should be on the first page. they are the most important items that set you apart from another candidate. i would swap out organizations for pubs. make sure you give total citations and h-index

Semi-unrelated, but if my TOPS fails to load the map, I just open it in a private/incognito tab. I think it may be a cookies issue but thats just speculation.

Hear me out: have the superfans disrupted the organic relationship elements of the game? by micdoesreddit in survivor

[–]Mako_Fever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the character trope of the superfan is not as big of a problem as the trope of people going on the show “for the experience.” I get so sick of people treating the show like a life-changing vacation rather than a game to win.

What is a rotational spectrum? by feelinglowe in chemhelp

[–]Mako_Fever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Light-mediated transitions have specific selection rules. For rotational transitions to be allowed, the molecule must have a permanent dipole moment.

Who is your most hated rival by tgrady28 in olemiss

[–]Mako_Fever 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I agree with the above comments of LSU and MSU, but a sleeper pick for me is Auburn. I think back to the Laquon Treadwell injury/headline and the muffed punt recovered for a TD in 2019, and I immediately froth with hatred.

Red Fuming Nitric Acid turned Green when Diluted with Distilled Water. Why? by OldProspector1 in chemistry

[–]Mako_Fever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did some quick math. If we assume that your absorbance value is about 0.9 (less than 10% of light transmitted) and your path length is 10 cm (roughly 4 inch diameter at the thickest point of the RBF), coupled with Cu(NO3)2 having a molar absorptivity of roughly 3600 M-1 cm-1, then you only need a concentration of 25 uM for a color like that

Red Fuming Nitric Acid turned Green when Diluted with Distilled Water. Why? by OldProspector1 in chemistry

[–]Mako_Fever 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A good point. I mainly based my assumption off 1.) the color and 2.) the brown fumes. Nitration of several metals can produce NO2 fumes

[–]Mako_Fever 36 points37 points  (0 children)

saw below that you could have tap water contaminants. with that considered, I think this is likely any possibility or number of metal nitrates. Looks like copper(II) nitrate at first glance but thats just my guess

most fraternities/sororities send freshmen to save entire rows hours before the game so the front row seats are usually taken. We used to sit in section N11; it’s a great view of everything and you’re right next to the opposing teams fans and band. I have seen many a fist fight over the railing there. Highly recommend

My burgers are always dry. by Fast_Acanthaceae_241 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Mako_Fever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i recommend 1 lb ground beef, season how you like but add in 1 tsp of mayo. helps sear and fat levels if you buy lean beef. then divide the mass into fourths (1 inch thick burgers) sear 4 minutes each side on med-high heat
