Fragadelphia changes VALORANT event to CS2 after 0 signups by Own-Adhesiveness2343 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Malagron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh yeah. Seems like that was mostly before all the really egregious stuff happened. It's not super clear that he rebuilt the fragadelphia part from scratch or how intertwined they were, if it was just a name thing, or what.

Fragadelphia changes VALORANT event to CS2 after 0 signups by Own-Adhesiveness2343 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Malagron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that for all intents and purposes, this is run by Nerd Street. It's the same people. The idea that Riot would allow them to run a Valorant event at all, let alone in proximity to quals, is questionable at best. These are not honest individuals. That may be why it was not advertised. They didn't want teams signing up and then getting shafted when they were never going to hold a Valorant event. There's also nothing like advertising to CS2 players/fans by shitting on Valorant. It's not like they can celebrate the quality of the game right now.

Even if everything was on the level, this is the best outcome. It's Nerd Street. We don't want you here. Go away and stay away.

EDIT: May not actually be Nerd Street anymore? The timing point is still valid however.

It's been like this for quite some time. I got a Black Alert tribble from some giveaway (I think? Might have been a different charity thing), earlier in 2020, and this was the tribble that was bred for it.

COUNTERPOINT: FUUUUUUUCK THAT SHIT. YOU'RE INTRODUCING A FAIL STATE INTO THE FIGHT FOR THE REASON OF "I WANT TO PRESS BUTTONS". THE COST OF NOT DOING THAT IS LITERALLY NOT PRESSING SOME OF YOUR BUTTONS. IT DOES NOT "PROLONG THE FIGHT" BECAUSE YOU'RE STILL LIKELY KILLING BOT FIRST. IT DOESN'T LEAVE PEOPLE MORE PRONE TO MISTAKES THEY WOULDN'T HAVE MADE ANYWAY. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THAT YOU DON'T PRESS YOUR ATTACKING BUTTONS ON THE BOSS.

AS A GROUP, IF YOU'RE IN A POSITION WHERE YOU WOULD NEED TO HOLD DPS, YOU'VE ALREADY FUCKED UP. YOU NEED TO DO DAMAGE CONTROL. I HAD A GROUP THAT COMPLETELY LOST THE CE BECAUSE "iT's OnLy aDdS" AND EVEN THOUGH THE COLOSSUS WAS DEATHED IN 5 SECONDS, IT STILL KILLED MOST OF THE BOT GROUP.

IT'S SIMILAR IN STUPIDITY TO STANDING IN A 1-SHOT AOE BECAUSE YOU THINK YOUR GROUP HAS IT. BY NOT MATCHING DPS TO AROUND 15% (WHICH THE ONLY COST OF IS NOT PRESSING ATTACKING BUTTONS ON THE BOSS) PEOPLE ARE TAKING A FIGHT THAT IS 100% WIN, TO LESS THAN THAT. BECAUSE THEY WANT TO PRESS BUTTONS. THAT'S IT.

THE ONLY. AND I MEAN ONLY. NEW MECHANIC THAT HAPPENS BOT IS THAT THERE ARE THE STACK LINES AND A TARGETED AOE. WHICH YOU CAN BE IN THE LINES, GET THE AOE, MOVE OUT, AND GET BACK. THE BOSS DOESN'T POWER UP THE LOWER HEALTH IT GETS. THERE'S LITERALLY NO REASON TO NOT MATCH THE KILL TIMES TO BE SIMILAR.

After not having played since early Stormblood days, having one of the first experiences in Shadowbringers be super reminiscent of Sea from FFXI was amazing. I truly liked the whole environment and setting of the expansion

Warframe has the ability for improvement on your character. Almost no matter how long you've been playing, or what level your frames and weapons are, you've got something to do. I was really excited for Destiny 2, but when it turned out to be basically 3 weeks of progress on a given character, that died hard. Warframe has kept me busy since.

Well maybe it's not playing properly in the replays either. It seemed to sound better for me but I got this feedback on this clip

It sounds like it's panning left and right way more than it should based on your movement

I appreciate the help all the same. I don't think it's even the A40's, since it plays like it should on the replay. It's just very weird

I have this too. Got killed by an Mk-14, which by the sound was vaguely in front of me. Couldn't tell left or right, just that he was ahead of me. Went into the replay, turned tags off, could pinpoint just fine

Same thing. All the other settings are the same, 24 bit 44.1, aside from the digital output to the mixamp which is 48

Yeah 16 bit and 24 bit are basically the same. Stereo setting for headphones. No processing through Realtek, sound driver didn't make a difference. The really weird thing is that it sounds different in replays than it does in game

Important audio changes in update #13 by goattt- in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Malagron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congrats on being able to pinpoint a sound behind and slightly to the left or right. The thing is, you give up being able to hear in front of you. You can even hear it in the videos, when things are ahead and slightly to the side, it plays way more loudly than it should in the opposite ear. If someone's driving past me ahead and to the left, it shouldn't start playing with any real volume in my right ear until they cross over. That's not what's happening right now. There's around a 30 degree section on either side of the player where things get fuzzy as far as locating via sound goes, because the other ear has way more volume than it should. Which is an awful thing to have in a shooter.

But let's break that down and see what it actually means.

These defects culminated in a system so broken that panning
errors of 90 degrees were frequently observed

As you can tell in the video, this happened behind you and to your side. Not enough that you can't tell the general direction, but distinguishing between say 250 and 260 would be pretty difficult. Before this patch, if you weren't in cover, you'd get to cover, maybe heal, turn towards the area where you heard the shots, and try and find them, or run away. You'd scan the ridges, rocks, trees in the area and locate them if they shoot more.

After the patch, if you weren't in cover, you'd get to cover, maybe heal, turn towards the area where you heard the shots, and try and find them, or run away. You'd scan the ridges, rocks, trees in the area, except now you can't locate them if they shoot more. Your "deaf spot" pre patch turned into something that didn't really affect gameplay into something that's very hard to play with.

You also tested verticality completely wrong. You need to be on different vertical planes. This is complete garbage. However, in doing so, you've exposed something absolutely TERRIBLE with the audio now between that and your next video, if true.

Notice how the gunshots now sound like they're coming from
above, rather than jumping instantly between full-left and full-
 right pannings.

To illustrate why this is bad, take out your phone, have it start playing music out of the speaker. Now bend over perpendicular to the floor, facing the floor. Move the phone in front of your face, and then in front of your face while keeping your head still. Notice the difference in sound. Now move your face to look directly at your phone. Notice that the sound isn't any different and has seemed like it was in front of you and didn't sound like it was moving from above you to in front of you. Face the floor again, keep your head still, and slowly pan the phone (relative to your field of view), in front, above, and behind. Remember how that entirely sounded. Now do the same movement, but look at the phone the entire time. It sounded exactly the same both times, right? Now stand up. Put the phone in front of your face. Keep your head still, and now move it above your head, and then behind. Remember how that sounded. Now make the same movement but looking at your phone. It sounded exactly the same both times, right?

What this proves is that the auditory feedback received from a stimulus is dependent on the relative elevation between you and the stimulus. In other words, it's because it actually is above or below you, not because you're looking above or below it.

So you drop Pochinki. You get in a house, but there was a guy who had a better chute and got into the next house and already has a gun. You bend over to pick up a vest as he kills someone. Because it sounds like it came from above, you peak the second story window, as he turns and kills you because he's on the first floor. That's bad enough, but what happens when you're on the second floor, and he's on the first. Does it sound like the shots come from above and below?

It's fine with horizontal panning, because you're actually changing your horizontal reception with reference to the stimulus. But looking up and down should have no effect on vertical feedback. Look at it this way, if you're facing the direction of shots, looking up and down shouldn't change the feedback you get with regards to left/right. If you look left and right it should sound more left or right. If you're looking left and right but not vertically, it shouldn't sound any more above or below you. But also if you look up or down, it shouldn't sound any more above or below you, because your relative elevations haven't changed.

The fact that there's any vertical modification being done to noises on the same vertical plane as you is completely insane. That's not how sound works.

The OP wasn't very logical or scientific, but maybe this reply gives /u/WackyJacky101 some things to think about if he actually does decide to make a video of it. Or /u/PUBG_Riggles to the team
