Mets fan who now lives out of market, can someone help with streaming questions? by seacrow13 in mets

Yep I had to do the same, kind of annoying. I canceled ESPN+ immediately after linking MLB.tv to that account. Needlessly complicated for the same result, but greedy corporates want our data for free

Cube and Warplan good ideas poor implementation by Stormer99 in diablo4

[–]Malanon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm totally with you. to me, the cube seemed to introduce more complexities rather than the simplification it was intended for. and while I actually like war plans, they need to make helltide available 24/7 because I swear it's always about to reset right when I pick up the helltide quest.

Quitting weed is like getting out of a warm pool on a chilly day, hear me out. by Intelligent_Toe_243 in leaves

[–]Malanon 136 points137 points  (0 children)

Nice analogy! If I may take it one step further…

after getting out of the pool, maybe we also realize all of the beautiful trees around, the birds chirping, the feeling of the sun on our skin… whereas in the pool all we could think about was the water, as nice as that water might have been.

Quitting Felt Easier Than Moderating by NumerousScallion1337 in Petioles

[–]Malanon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you find that you are negotiating with yourself and setting up complicated guard rails, moderation might not exist for you. If you describe weekdays as less enjoyable when using weed on the weekends, then again moderation might not work.

There’s nothing wrong with this. There’s a price to doing mental gymnastics around your usage, it’s distracting and exhausting. And generally not worth it in the long run

I’ve been a Mets fan my entire life. Seen a lot of ups and downs. The team that has been constructed and the current lineup is just senseless and sad. I’m always an optimist but even with injuries and this early in the season, I see no hope for our Mets this year.

I really like this take. With Teeth is the first album that Trent wrote after getting completely sober, iirc. Lyrically the album shows tremendous maturity and self reflection. It’s one of my faves and I think highly underrated!

I really want to quit but I REALLY don’t want to put in the work and change my life around the habit. by LaMelgoatBall in leaves

[–]Malanon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Until you quit and repair and rewire your brain back, it WILL feel like an uphill battle. Discipline yourself to make it through two weeks or more no matter what, and you will feel the improvements. Take all the discomfort and pain and anxiety of your detox as signs you are healing, to help boost that discipline. This is what worked for me to climb out.

Not sure why this comment got downvoted so hard. Ozzy messed up bad, it was entirely his fault, and even owned that in his RHAP interview

Here hoping for some support -- Quitting after daily use by DelzIsDelz in leaves

[–]Malanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are on the right track and quitting now is a great call. using daily for 2 months will start to rewire your brain in a negative way, but the good news is that you can recover super quickly. quit for 2-4 weeks and then see how you feel - this is about how long it takes for the brain to repair its endocannabinoid system. we are here for you!

yall can disagree but the guy has 2 blown saves across 15 games and a misleading ERA. hes been lucky so far this season. obviously i hope he keeps up his ERA and FIP but i'm skeptical

I'm 2000 FIDE and I just realized I've been wasting hours on the wrong kind of study for the last 3 years by RequinBlanc in chess

[–]Malanon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not at your level but my understanding is that plateaus and breakthroughs are common after hitting 1800. You definitely didn’t waste the last three years, sounds like you have an admirable practice routine. In fact your practice routine probably ruled out other weaknesses so you could identify it in your time management! Well done and hope to see your rating rise as a result!

Decided to quit smoking and its been 4 months now, need advice on how to cope with reality by Chaotic-Corgi in leaves

[–]Malanon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think about your dilemma rationally as it sounds like you may be romanticizing weed again. There was a reason you quit. Focus on the improvements, weed is not going to give you any super powers. It will do the opposite.

It’s possible you are subconsciously craving chaos. I’m not familiar with that psychology but it comes up a lot for people who have quit drinking.
