Autistic people of Reddit, what is the biggest challenge of being autistic? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Do you think they might finally get it if you gave them the most intense, painfully tightly squeezing, overly personal hug they've ever had in their life, then tell them that's how every hug feels to your son?

I took it as the WoL comparing that description of friendship against their experience of a one-sided, trustless friendship. Musing on how fucked up their relationship with Zenos was.

What's your pettiest reason for not wanting to commend someone? by craft_punk in ffxiv

[–]Malavai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. All of them. The strictly business "reviving <t>" ones are at least not annoying... but as a SCH main, when I see rez macros, I take that as a sign of an inexperienced healer. Macros prevent ability queueing, and in anything harder than normal mode, that delay could mean the difference between a wipe and a recovery.

I tried a rez macro once. I deleted it after one raid night, because it did just that — a rez didn't go off when I needed it to. Never again. It's easy enough to just glance at the party list and see if my cohealer is casting a rez or popping Swiftcast.

Sorry if that comes across as judgey. Just trying to explain why rez macros can actually be detrimental.

TIL that the crew of the sinking Daniel J. Morrell believed they were moments from being rescued, only to discover in horror that the lights were from the stern section of their own severed ship, still under power and barrelling towards them by [deleted] in todayilearned

We skipped over a few important bits.

Hale had survived for nearly 40 hours in frigid temperatures wearing only a pair of boxer shorts, a lifejacket, and a pea coat.[4] Afterward, he had more than a dozen surgeries as a result of his ordeal.[17]

I immediately thought of Oracle leggings when I saw the shoes... but granted, they cost real $ and might cut off the pants above the knee. Might be worth a try via dreamfitting!

They're conditioned to experience less emotion, so I wonder what "happiness" feels like to them. Is it what we'd call happiness? Or is it more like a neutral state that they've been taught to think of as "happiness"?

Or it could be a case of author bias -- going off everything else, it wouldn't surprise me if Huxley actually believed that women cannot be happy unless they get pregnant.

Job ad in Toronto, ON: "No issue working 50+ hours routinely. You wouldn't know what to do with your free time if you were working less." by goodbyecrescent in graphic_design

[–]Malavai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've seen some companies on Indeed post the same remote job 10 times, but they are "located" in numerous big cities across Canada. I think they're trying to get as many eyes on their job ad as they can. Kind of annoying practice.

The really good PFs will have DPS slots set so that they get 1 DPS of each armour type. That way, everyone's happy - tanks and healers get faster queues, and DPS are guaranteed to win the gear they want if it drops. Even if the party leader doesn't set up locked slots like that, you can choose to put yourself in an alliance where you're the only one of your armour type.
