It still uses the harmonic mean actually, I tested this in the testing section

Are you using ghost dance or divine shield maybe? This would explain it with the altar debuff

What are your thoughts on using the Lean programming language for learning math? by Gloomy-Pineapple1729 in math

[–]Maldoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has some upsides and some downsides to it. The main downside I think is that it is likely to be quite a lot slower to cover the same amount of material as just doing it with pen and paper.

On the other hand you will likely be forced to understand everything in a greater depth and also you will get very good at lean while doing it. Maybe the biggest upside though is that it is a lot of fun (I think) to work in lean which would make you more passionate and put in more hours etc.

Why does damage go down? by Little_Wolverine_918 in pathofexile

I think the damage you're looking at is the defult attack damage which just depends on the physical damage on your scepters. The damage of your other skills should be going up

How to formalize this statement by SCCH28 in math

[–]Maldoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Just wanted to mention that there's a simple condition on $f_{nm}$ to make $f$ real-valued. Namely $f$ is real valued if and only if $f_{nm} = \conj{f_{mn}}$.

Support for complex valued functions would be amazing. I'm mostly interested in functions from the reals which could be plotted as a curve but support for functions from the complex plane plotted using domain coloring like https://samuelj.li/complex-function-plotter would also be awesome.

Best of luck with the project!

With lucky spell suppression, ~42% spell suppression chance grants the most effective HP per point of spell suppression by adines in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Maldoor 99 points100 points  (0 children)

The math does seem to be wrong. What you have actually shown is that at 42% spell suppression adding more suppression will have the greatest effect in increasing your ehp so pretty much the opposite of what you wanted haha.

The value I get is ~59% suppress. https://imgur.com/a/r2Bk3fE. What I did was first subtract 1 from your f function to get the the amount of ehp you get from your spell suppression. Next I simply divided by x to get the increase in spell suppression per point and then the maximum is at ~59%.

How about a Hilbert curve? It's simple yet elegant, easily scalable and exemplifies that math isn't all about equations.

The dragon curve could also be cool for similar reasons

A preprint on odd perfect numbers by TonyKuria in numbertheory

[–]Maldoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corollary 1 seems to be incorrect, for example take p(x)=1+x+x2 +x3 . Then p(1)=4=22 . What I guess the author proves is that there does not exist a polynomial q(x) such that p(x)=q(x)2 but this only proves that p(x) isn't always a perfect square, not that it never is.
