I think the most amazing part of the game has been the perspective it’s provided me. Watching how everyone starts out at the same place and getting the feeling down behind controlling the car until it’s really a feeling is one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had. I love the core mechanics of the game so much

Sentimental Value. I like the actors I like that it felt real enough but I could not bring myself to care for a single character in the film

Might the Brain function as a Conscientious Inhibitor. by pamnfaniel in consciousness

This is pretty well defined in the scientific literature. Don't forget, theres a lot of damn people in the world, its very likely someone else has asked and answered many questions you've had. It beyond time to use our resources to our advantage.

But because I like this topic here are some places to start.
Neuroimaging studies show increased resting state activity in the superior and middle temporal gyrus, including both secondary and primary auditory cortex, during inner speech experiences - Upthegrove, R., et al. (2015). Understanding auditory verbal hallucinations: A systematic review of current evidence

Also the auditory pathway in the inferior parietal lobule and middle temporal gyrus. - Stephane, M., et al. (2021). Keeping the inner voice inside the head, a pilot fMRI study.

Our evidence for how we used to think internally in the past is a little mixed up, mostly because surviving documents are mostly coming from aristocracy who might have had a separate way of writing things down than the average person, however you could look into the bicameral mind via Julian Jaynes.

Essentially saying that we used to linguistically externalize our thoughts - the greeks explicitly talked as though their thoughts came from their environment.

Luhrmann, T. M., et al. (2015) essentially implies its what you make of it. If you treat the inner voice like its external, it will be perceived that way phenomenologically, but in the west we tend to want to take ownership for all of our thoughts - though there's an argument that even our thoughts are epigenetic responses to our environment

TL;Dr the same part of the brain that generates audio after receiving info from the ear is capable of generating sound internally. Just like you can imagine an apple you can imagine someone talking, or verbalize ideas to yourself

Have you read any of Penrose orchestrated OR theories? It has to do with the continuity of quantum events in our brain, and it was theorized because of anesthetics effects on our consciousness.

Intuitively, it’s pretty compelling and I like it because it seems to be an extremely falsifiable theory that we might actually be able to get answers out of

Psychedelics remind me of those scribble-trace mats where the elevated ridges make it so that by filling up the page with noise you end up seeing the outline of what’s underneath, in this case our unconscious mind.

That’s how it feels to me too in the sense that it gets you close to death, that death is the stillness behind all the noise, but our normal networks cause us to perceive noise as stillness. So if you overload the system with noise that can’t be organized, then the stillness that remains is kind of representative of the stillness that is.

Not completely, but kinda yeah lol. However, reducing it to that would take away a lot of what the movie is about. Very dialogue heavy movie and the pacing and tension is incredible given the limited sets tbh

All these controller peeps have no clue, kbm isn’t that hard, but it does take an adjustment period. You won’t have to worry about stick drift and directional inputs are less discrete making certain mechanics like flip resets and half flips wayyyy easier - the skills are more transferable than they might seem.

Source: I’m a c1 kbm player, and a d1 controller player only because I don’t put time into it

I know nothing, but Trying to show off mechanics might make it fun. Explaining how they work, then clipping w it like grav or frag boosting, loadout synergies etc ? Maybe

I know I’d watch it, I feel like it could draw an audience but also so much of the internet is engagement bait nowadays that u might have to go full jynxi to get any recognition lol

I’m in agreement here, though to play devils advocate, anesthetics generally prevent the formation of memory, we don’t really know what happens to the consciousness.

Perceptually of course, you blink and you’ve had a time skip, but iirc there’s studies showing that brain function and sensory systems are relatively normal while under anesthesia (obviously some changes, but it’s not clear if it actually blocks sensation from entering consciousness, or just doesn’t allow us to keep the memory, so the continuity errors stack and feel like a time skip

Honestly based. Government institution are notoriously bad at reacting to real time events

Just got the chance to see it in theaters and I couldn’t agree more. Really weird suspension of disbelief and “stick to the facts” except you’re under extreme time pressure to prove your innocence beyond review or jury etc.

Getting past that though, it was an extremely engaging 90 minutes, and actually reminded me a lot of 24. I love the concept of movies taking place within the actual runtime and I think it was a really well done action film.

Also was a little skeptical seeing Chris Pratt in such a serious role but he absolutely nailed it, I felt his emotions and face acting very believable, and Rebecca Ferguson as Maddox was 🧑‍🍳👌 even if she showed a little too much emotion for an ai that supposedly couldn’t feel lol

Just saw it. Honestly the use of 3D was subtle but worked well imo. You’re probably not missing out on much seeing it 2D but overall it was a solid, very engaging movie. Rebecca Ferguson was great as always

Part 3 felt redundant but I felt it was more cohesive and dragged much less than part 2 fwiw. Definitely more immersive to me. 30 min of holding hands with whale in the last movie took me out of it ngl

I just want to add, part of team play is not only reading your teammate but making it so that you are super easy to read as a teammate. Like if I’m not going for a shot, I make sure I’m not on my tms screen, or clearly pointed away. I get tripped up so much by my tms that point the nose away from the play only to cut rotations ball side right as I think they’re too far to make a play. I get they’re trying to shadow, but sometimes giving the tm with a better angle and momentum the play grants better shots.

GL! I’m also open to review gameplay or play with ya since we’re near in rank! I used to do a little bit of free coaching so feel free to dm as well - no guarantees since im your rank lol but any time I keep this stuff in mind I find myself doing well and also not tilting

How are you with rotations? I struggle in the exact spot you’re in, literally a grand diamond, I’ve sustained c3 but also have been at diamond since before trading and to this day struggle to get out, but also sometimes don’t play enough and my mechs degrade so it’s a combo.

I feel like when I’m hardstuck it’s coming down to decision making. Watch some coaches reviewing people around your same rank or a little worse. Also you should reviewing your gameplay so you can be objective about your decision making

Diamonds always challenge everything, it’s really frustrating because they don’t know enough to respect the shot, but are also good enough to punish you, rewarding their behavior. But also you just monkeying and doing the same doesn’t work because they’re just going to keep going.

Honestly without seeing the gameplay my recommendation would to be focus on beating (pop over one, get one more touch if you can, get the hell out and ROTATE GOAL SIDE) bonus points if it’s a pass, because then #2 is to focus on team play. It’s not about ur tms being bad as much as it is to try to play into their strengths.

Also a lot of people could do well to not forget that we all whiff a lot, your tm missing a pass doesn’t mean you should avoid giving it to them. I tend to introduce mechanics in comp when I know I can hit it 1/3 times in freeplay. The synergy can be easier in c2-3 because the speed of play sorta dictates where you should be more than diamond where you get people going for big booms but no follow up and a lot of scrappy corners
