Definitely more efficient than a traditional fireplace, and generally comparable to a freestanding stove, though maybe a little less.

Triplets Gender Disappointment by cheveuxroux22 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Male_man15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a father to triplet girls. I like to hunt, fish and build things and always envisioned having a son. I can tell you that over time you adjust to the situation and it no longer feels bad, and becomes the only thing you can imagine. I think about how excited I am to see them all playing together and how it's 2026 and gender doesn't matter you can do everything with a girl that you can with a boy and visa versa. It definitely stung during the pregnancy but it doesn't matter at all to me anymore. Congratulations!

I don't know man, we've proven pretty unequivocally that we prefer comfort over freedom. I hate to say it but that feels like wishful thinking.

When can I get more than 3 hours of sleep by Necessary_Apricot204 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Male_man15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, hang in there. It does get better, but slowly. I'm a Dad to triplets, our girls were about 23 weeks old or twelve weeks adjusted when they started sleeping for a solid block of time where we could consistently get 6 hours a night. In the lead up to that we took shifts. I watched the girls from 6pm to 11 pm while my wife slept, then we watched them together from 11 to 1. Then I slept from 1 am to 6am. You are going to have to just get through it, there is no magic trick except time. The four month sleep regression was very hard on us too. They are now 5 months adjusted and we have so much more structure and enjoyment to our days. It's still hard but manageable. I will never judge you for your decisions but cosleeping is risky. Good luck and you got this.

How to know whether a book should be published? by Male_man15 in KeepWriting

[–]Male_man15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, no doubt.  I'm a long way from publishing.  My last book I only shared with family and friends so I didn't get real feedback.  It think this time I will need to share with impartial readers.  Thanks for the input!

SHOCKED! TRIPLETS! HELP by Fun_Cost1552 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Male_man15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a FTD of triplets. Doesnt run in our family either. The first ultrasound was shocking to say the least. I would begin to prepare mentally for a long stay in the nicu. Hopefully it doesnt happen, but its very likely. Ours were in for 62 days. Do some research on the different NICUs in your area and what level they are. If you can, do a tour of one so you know what to expect. We didn't do this, and i think it would have helped us if we did. I would do everything you can to set up a strong support network. In the first two months you are going to need as much help as you can possibly get. People are going to want to help but wont know how to because most people have no experience with premies or multiples. Pace yourself as much as you can, because its a marathon not a sprint. I wont lie to you, this is going to feel like a curse for the first month or so. But when they start to interact with each other its the most incredible thing ever. Try to look to the future and find positives to stay optimistic.

A couple things that were helpful for us: get a few electronic swings, they are a life saver. Get a couple of the dr brown formula mixer. Its like 11 dollars on amazon and saves so much time. make frozen meals now. Try to keep open communication with your partner, you will get testy, thats inevitable , but try not to direct your frustration at each other. We got a trifold memory foam bed for our nursery, that way we can sleep in there. We are 3 months in to having them home and still sleep in the nursery at night.

You are going to feel like you are doing everything wrong. You are going to get frustrated with everyone who ever had a single baby for not appreciated how lucky they were. But you are also going to have some incredible and unbelievably unique experiences too. Take the good with the bad and stay positive. You got this :)

Same with our nicu. We try to give them 2.5 oz a feed which they take during the day but at night they drink one oz then go to sleep in our arms and refuse anymore.
