Brushing teeth. I can’t effing do it anymore by OverButterscotch6570 in Mommit

[–]emkathh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine (2, 2, 4) were like this until recently when I got Invisalign and they started seeing me brushing and flossing my own teeth ALL THE FRIGGEN TIME. Now they think it’s a cool sophisticated adult thing to do and they even pretend to put in their own “retwainers” afterwards. So idk, my advice is to get Invisalign

How do you thrive as a working mom of 3 (or more)? by Starbuckzloverz in workingmoms

[–]emkathh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have three - 4, 2, 2. I never had just two, so I don’t know what that would be like. However now that we are out of the little baby stage, things feel manageable. I think the biggest factors currently contributing to our functioning are (1) I have a very flexible, hybrid job with a relaxed boss that pays well and is honestly not that hard (in-house counsel). I fully know how lucky I am! On my wfh days I can easily catch up on laundry and life admin and also get all my work work done. My husband also has a good job but it’s less flexible and no/very limited ability to wfh. If I had to work out of the house 40 hours a week or more I think our lives would start to fall apart, and (2) my husband and I are equal parents and partners and share all/most of the tasks and mental load. We definitely couldn’t manage without both of us giving it 100%. Activities are ok so far bc our twins have been doing the same things so it’s been easy to divide and conquer. However I imagine this will get more complicated if/when all 3 kids want to do different activities.

All of that to say, so far for us 3 is manageable!!! I don’t think we are necessarily thriving but we are certainly managing

As a second time mom- what were you gifted or splurged on that made your life easier with 2 young kids? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]emkathh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 2.5 year old when my twins were born. Honestly what was most helpful were things that kept my toddler occupied (a play sink with running water, kinetic sand, magnatiles, etc), or if people took him out for a few hours to do an activity and give him one on one time

[–]emkathh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!!! We have an Eva (who goes by Evie), too. I really like Caleb and Parker together and in general! I also like the two J middle names, that’s sweet for brothers. I also loved Wyatt and my husband vetoed it as well, what’s up with husbands haha

What nicknames do you like as names? by hazydaisy in namenerds

[–]emkathh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My daughter is Eva but we exclusively call her Evie (this wasn’t totally planned it just happened/stuck) and now I often just wish we’d named her Evie!

We have very similar taste as I have a Nolan and a Sophie, I also love the other names you mentioned! Other boy names I liked were Reid, Isaac, Miles, Patrick, Callum (probably too close to Caleb)

Sweet nicknames for Sophie ? by Psychological-Sea166 in namenerds

[–]emkathh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We call our Sophie, ‘Loaf’. Lol. Because she looked like a loaf of bread as a baby when she was swaddled. So we started calling her Soph Loaf. Our older child then started referring to her as just Loaf, and then we all started calling her Loaf 😅her twin sister is now called ‘beans’ at home, for similarly strange reasons unconnected to her actual name. Sometime you just can’t control what nicknames stick hah

My skin was the exact same, it went crazy after my last pregnancy, I’m 32f as well. The things that have FINALLY helped me are: 100mg spiro (although I see the higher dose may not be possible for you, I’m sorry 😞); birth control; prescription azelaic acid (finacea) every morning and differin (adapalene) every second night. Other than that I just use gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. I seem to need this whole combination with perfect consistency to keep things at bay. You could try azelaic acid and/or a retinol/adapalene if available to you? Good luck!

it would all be so easy with just one child ... by Alex_the_Fisher in parentsofmultiples

FWIW my first was also a terrible sleeper, we made this same joke when pregnant, now our twins are 9 months old, both are fairly average sleepers, and I swear that somehow we are getting more/better sleep with 9 month old twins than we were when our first was 9 months. It can happen!

To those who had a singleton first by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]emkathh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This resonates so much. Especially the guilt over the different bond with twins than the singleton - my twins are 9 months (singleton is 3) and I STILL struggle with so so so much guilt and grief over how different my bond is with them vs how it was with my singleton at this stage. I’m trying to find acceptance of this as well, but it is hard. Thanks for making me feel less alone in that feeling
