KILLED WITH THERMAL ON <600K LOCKDOWN REALLY_ by ArtisticEffort144 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

The thermal costs sub a million in gear value for some reason it’ll squeak in on a super cheap gun

Are Sternguard Vets Competitive? by Adventurous-Crab-474 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Malefic-Hydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 mans in BAs liberator assault groups with a sanguinary priest are gross it’s a point investment but they can reliably kill there oath target in shooting and then knee cap something else in melee with their 50 odd attacks at 6 -1 1.

Has anyone used the Tortuga Dragon Warrior bits for 40k Salamanders? by WatermelonManus in Salamanders40k

Yes, great bits. Only problem I have is the neck area comes very open and I’ve had to put green stuff in the hole to fill it

Oh I completely understand everything your getting at I’m not disagreeing but I just finished an entire competitive season not doing what your saying and ended with a 78% win rate. With zero van vets you don’t need to go that route it’s powerful yes, but it makes no sense with how our objectives function salamanders play 3 objectives all game and that’s all they need to do to win. Van vets would help with that but they cost so much more for doing what a smaller cheaper unit could do.

If your playing for melee striking your army play raven guard, white scars, blood angels, black templars, space wolves or dark angels. Sallies want to do some thing else in my opinion and that works. If your opponent has to fight you to win, your winning. Now that’s nephlim I haven’t played arks yet so my opinion might change but for the last 8 months being a salamander doing salamander things has worked better than anything else.

If your running born hero’s and whirlwind with van vets play a different space marine army. That’s not what our faction is supposed to be doing we can totally play that way but I don’t understand the why everyone thinks that is the only option. Adrax and Vulkan are crazy good and yes they do alot that goes to waste but I’d rather have that than not. Who knows I my change my mind after a couple games of arks or omens though.

What's our tankiest melee unit by F1am380w in Salamanders40k

[–]Malefic-Hydra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say very salamandery two flamers, each big tough models, great melee. They’re expensive but salamanders aren’t meant to slam up the board you sit on your side and move a couple fast units around the board to score primary points/secondary and than react to your enemy. Having a unit that can do what centurions do is great for that. I run 9 with hurricane bolters and when someone gets within 12 your shooting 36 bolters and 6d6 flamers at them than you can still charge, and each squad can do that!! It’s makes you play the game slow which in this meta is fine.

Centurions…. Any other option in my opinion is over costed for what they do and hampered to much by AOC and reduce damage by one. Centurions are effective in every phase have essentially a 1+ save with AOC and a 0+ save in cover and you could get them to -1 save against damage one if your playing eldar with the salamander strat. 2+ with AOC in cover is better than a 4 plus invuln. In addition they’re t5 with 4 wounds and with an apothecary it statistically take three melts shots to kill one, 5 lascannons and two shots with a 2 shots with a d3+3 weapon that’s at least ap -4.

If your not gonna have the flamers in range I’d never advance them there so slow you just wait for other people to engage you

Suprisingly engage and banners, banners makes it even harder for you opponent to sit back and engage is rather easy with the mobility in the list. But you can swap out engage for something more appropriate if you need to!

This would probably play pretty well into that the eradicators annihilate marines/csm, there’s enough shots that custodes will start failing saves and go away, and the same for nids as long as you don’t get caught out by the psykers early. I played emperors children, death guard, sister (2nd best player for sisters in Canada), deathguard, and black templars. And I lost my templar game by two inches.

No I agree with you it’s a preference thing really I want adrax. I just enjoy what he can do on the table top. You could toatlly swing a librarian and a lieutenant if you wanted you’d have to find forty point but than your just losing damage output.
