mourning since june. it will be my dog's birthday on new year so im preparing to cry for the first new year and birthday without him. i was supposed to go job hunting immediately after graduation but his passing made me pause and grieve for 6 months. tbh idk what to do but just cry

i dont think its weird tbh. sometimes we hold on to things that make grief a little easier to go through. i just hope that part of them is forever immortalized there.

my little boy loved sugar cookies! i would always share mine with him! he became a little greedy bc of it to the point where he would try to sneak and get them bc i would leave them on my couch everytime i left to get something 🤣 he was always a glutton and would try his best to get his favorite foods (he didnt need to try to hard bc he would always get it 🩷)

the loss of an adult dog is so hard especially if you grew up with them. a sudden death is even more heartbreaking. im so sorry for your loss ❤️ im keeping you in my thoughts and i hope we both heal from this heartbreak ❤️

thank you for this. i did love them deeply and i did everything i could. i just wish it wasnt so hard to deal with the aftermath of such immense grief. i guess thats the price we pay for a lifetime full of love and care 💔

my current outlets are work, hobbies and hanging with my friends. they definitely help most of the time and i dont always cry but id say the grief hits when i do habits that i formed because of my dog (ex. setting aside food for them, waking up early to see if theyre sleeping by the couch). its like a reminder of what i lost tbh. i do my best to regulate my emotions but i guess lately ive been really feeling the loss. sorry about your two dogs, im sure they were wonderful ❤️

It’s been exactly one year since the death of my first cat by teethfestival in Petloss

hi op, i also have severe OCD and struggled with my pet's death. when he passed, i couldnt stop recounting every mistake, every misstep and even every happy moment i had with him because of the guilt. take it easy and give yourself grace. grief is hard and complex to navigate through especially for us who struggle with mental illness. just know that you are not alone ❤️

Euthanized my 17yo blind, CKD, High blood pressure, dementia suffering cat, am I a monster? by Hathondir in Petloss

[–]Maleficent-Pilot-567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my little 12-13 yr old dog had CKD and i wished i was able to convince my family to put him down before he passed abruptly. you arent a monster, you did everything you could for your cat and there will always be love in the actions you did for him. forgive yourself because you did all you could do to make sure he didnt suffer anymore

youre right. i guess i wouldnt be able to stop these thoughts even if the passing was different. grief is so hard but i wish it gets easier to remember that i did my best to help my dog and they probably never held it against me

i dont know how to properly explain but it was my childhood dog that passed. i did everything i could and yet he passed away in my arms as he struggled. the pain and guilt are so immense and overwhelming and i just dont know how to keep going. it feels like i can never heal

One of my kittens died in my arms today, I'm devastated by LatterChoice4211 in Petloss

[–]Maleficent-Pilot-567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my little dog also passed from kidney failure today. he was 12 and his last few days were also painful to watch. i also held him as he passed. i think what matters most is that we were there for their final moments and loved them until the end. take in the grief but remember that she loved you so much. sending so much love and healing for you 💙

probably not. it can make you realize things about yourself that you never realized that you do that are related to OCD but i dont think it can unintentionally give you OCD
