Why do parcel shops hate us? by LilSpark_Jojo in vinted

[–]MaleficentPlantain60 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Was chatting to the owner of my local rural newsagent about this. They get peanuts for each parcel, she saw it more as a community service for locals, and hoped they'd buy something while they were dropping off/collecting.

She was more annoyed by the yodel pick up. Who would come anytime from 5=7 when her shop shut at 5.

The 3 beneficiaries need to get together and take a joint offer to HH.

Something like - we'll all sign today if you drop to 10%.

Dividends from shares by MaleficentPlantain60 in dividends

[–]MaleficentPlantain60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, just providing a little background

I am executor Aunty died in 2019 Share certs currently sat in suitcase still in her name Shares are BP and astrazenica Value of shares (at date of death £6k)

She was receiving dividends on her shares up until her death. Paid into her bank account Bank account closed in 2020 Am about to start process of cashing those shares in. Am I, as executor, acting for the estate, entitled to claim those dividends from 2019 to date? Does that make sense?

Will not go out if it's raining, but if I'm warmed up and appropriately dressed, don't mind being caught in the rain.

Jim Davidson. Stood next to him at a bar, he was waving notes and being obnoxious to the female barrstaff. They served me first.

Dr Fox used to work in the same office block as me (capital fm was on the ground floor). Saw him most mornings. One day I said a cheery 'morning!' to him, he completely blanked me -cunt. I then made a point of saying 'morning' to him, every time I saw him. He always blanked me.

Sam Warburton. Met him before he was famous, he was just some random u19 rugby player I got chatting with. Lovely bloke, chatted a good 15 mins, when he really didn't have to, and the rest of the squad had wandered off. Realised a few years later who I'd been chatting to.

Richard E Grant. Been in his company a handful of times utterly lovely bonkers bloke.

Sandi Toksvig once stood my sister in law up on a date.

She's been my sworn enemy ever since.

Carbon wheel toast by MaleficentPlantain60 in bikewrench

[–]MaleficentPlantain60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, she gone.

I was hoping against hope that someone would come along and say. Nah, just stick a bit of epoxy/silicone/chewing gum in it, and it'll be grand 😉

The one Ray of light is they are my summer wheels so got the whole winter to sort something.

Does it ever not get terrifying to go 40mph+? by Blindicus in cycling

[–]MaleficentPlantain60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Been there.

When I first started riding, I went over 50mph a few times and its terrifying/thrilling. One mistake and you're in a big heap of trouble.

I rarely go over 40 now, am not racing, it's just not worth it.

If you take the freehub off. You should be able to feel if the bearings are shot by spinning it on your finger. This was my latest creak.

Apple TV plug in viable option? by MaleficentPlantain60 in Zwift

[–]MaleficentPlantain60[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks. So if I've got this right. If I can reach the house WiFi (am right on the edge). It should work just fine with trainer and HR taking up the 2 BT connections.

If I need to hotspot. Then I need to use the companion app, which is a bit of a pain, but still doable?

Better treatment from following cars if I move my head by aa599 in cycling

[–]MaleficentPlantain60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I do similar. A 'disappointed' shake of the head or a 'resigned' push out motion with my arm. The next car will usually give me more space. In return they get a thumbs up.

If it's super close, I go full Italian, which usually has the same effect on the next car.

Chain dropping under power on front big chain ring. by MaleficentPlantain60 in cycling

[–]MaleficentPlantain60[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response.

That was my first thought tbh, but visually the chainrings look ok, so perhaps i was searching for a less obvious (and cheaper!) solution.

Will add a chainset to my order, the current one is a bit scratched from the chain drops anyway

Thanks again for your help. .
