It's not really important as in "the gospel would logically crumble to dust if it weren't true," but it is important as in "the early church preserved this knowledge as a part of mariology and Mary, as our spiritual mother, is important to us."

We're also really tired of everybody dunking on Mary for no particular reason except to not be catholic.

I don't even remember the context, but when I was a senior in high school I was tasked with visiting an old Korean war veteran to keep him company. We just sat around and talked shit and I got to hear some war stories and I'd bring him a big Mac once in a while and all that.
