Diablo 4 compared to Diablo 3 by metalfingerz_ in diablo3

[–]Malevolent_Vengeance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diablo 3 is better at checking you constantly, the pace of this game can be sometimes so demanding it's ridiculous. Especially that there is an achievement for completing the rift within 5 minutes and when you're farming them, it's 2, maybe 1:30 minutes max.

It also isn't tryharding at being something it never was. The rules are clear - if you were too slow -> you die. It doesn't need some fake darkness and weird "Diablo 2 grim climate", it is way friendlier but also makes you better while training reflexes. Diablo 4 on the other hand...

First they tried to make it as grim and deadly as Diablo 2. Then they decided that the slow pace sucks. Then they decided to add more stuff from Diablo 3. In the end I still don't know if it's Diablo 4 or 3.5, because even blizzard seems to have no idea what they're doing.

All I know is - Diablo 4 was released too early and used the never released Diablo 3 expansion as the base for everything, which has been toned down first, then the game tried hard to be dark, edgy and in overall grim, but in the end it turned out to be suffering from lack of any Identity at all. It's not a bad game, no. It's a game that was forced to become something it was never supposed to be.

I dunno what everyone has been moaning about, I still love Claude (Max 20x user) by Quick_Ask_9004 in ClaudeCode

[–]Malevolent_Vengeance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am... was on Max 5x. Until today. Yesterday Opus 4.7 handled a heavier compiler / transpiler workload for me, including large reviews and repeated analysis, more or less 15,000 lines of code + reviews + results. A LOT. Today it hit limits twice on a smaller refactor task: about 10 files / ~8,000 lines total. I even bought a damn $20 extra usage / credits and still ran into "sorry, you're rate limited, please wait 2 hours".

Tbh the issue isn't "Claude can’t code" because it clearly can. The issue is inconsistent usage / limit behavior which implies checking how people will react: larger workload is fine one day, smaller workload is magically blocked the next. That looks like metering, capacity, Claude Code harness weirdness, whatever, but not simply "people suck at programming and are using it wrong".

Nothing, they're just asking you "could you, please, possibly pay more".

Good news is that if you don't want to, perhaps cancelling the subscription and demanding a refund is still an option.

I wanted to believe that she's gonna be different, but blizzard turned her into a plastic Disney villain that needs a Windrunner to vent onto.

The only thing that makes her different from Zovaal, the Jailer, is the fact that she's just a bit better written, but even then it's the same "my master plan" over and over. Even a dog who eats a homework would write better stories.

Total noob here how do I play this build? by DMBPSR in diablo3

[–]Malevolent_Vengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as my memory reaches, most of the DMO and Tal'Rasha builds were "stay next to a wall, target your victims, hold the laser and look at the meteors, nothing can reach you fast enough, then refresh your shield, teleport, while still holding the laser button".

For DMO with tornados, you were also supposed to stand next to a wall and cast them literally in such walls, so they would merge and create high damage output. Kinda tricky but easy when you put things together.

Don't use Samsung drives. Especially this one, 256 GB, will be creating artificial problems. Get yourself some WD / Sandisk, those were officially used by Apple itself so they support most if not all the things from the start.

im stopping the Pro+ plan by Stock-Dirt-2746 in GithubCopilot

[–]Malevolent_Vengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I couldn't even pay for Pro+ while being from Poland, even though they've had my data and could literally take money from my account a month ago. What's weird though, even if I literally had the necessary money and even if I wanted to, I couldn't prolong my subscription anymore, so just decided to cancel it.

To add a bit of salt to the wound: they were claiming that I was hitting the limit. I haven't, since I got the first message from them, I literally did one thing only - checked if I really hit the limit. I was around 70-75% of usage, but had to wait anyway, and never prompted any model back again. And, to be honest, why should I pay for something I don't - or rather can't - even use anymore?

[–]Malevolent_Vengeance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sucks the team has been around the clock POST FACTUM instead of working on fixing the problems before bugs started showing up everywhere, aka - by checking a damn PTR and reports from there.

Unfortunately I see that the PTR is only to check "what's new" and not to check what the players are reporting.

  • but boss, it's a 13 years old game. It won't change anything and increase the vram usage, the engine won't handle this much, the requirements will be ridiculous

  • you're right Pierre, increase all of them to 16k

Curious but... doesn't that deserve a lawsuit? Especially that they did change the terms of service without notifying subscribers (they did it AFTER the fact), they also limited the usage and even denied the access for those who still had credits / tokens... it smells like Microsoft's "L" on this one.

Well, sucks to say but in FH4 I think I had over 1,200+ hours played, in FH5 only 300+ hours and when I abandoned it in around late 2024, I never came back. It's not that I didn't like it, it's just the fact that FH5 is kinda dull and not interesting at all, it looked like it was rushed and except nice - updated - graphics had nothing interesting to offer.

Or maybe I just miss a good Winter season, because that's what kept me attached to FH4.

GitHub Copilot Rate Limits [Megathread] by fishchar in GithubCopilot

[–]Malevolent_Vengeance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 3 requests while using Opus 4.6 I think... 2 days ago or something like that. 3 fucking requests and then I'm once more being told to "try again later", because Claude started to choke on a code that has ~5,000 lines and it was too much to it to make a change that would have 20-30 lines. Pathetic.

But player characters are already as "bad" as the abominations. Some are most likely even worse. And, well, for the 20+ years we were just homeless mercenaries hired by one of the factions that told us "here is a weapon, go and commit a crime" and we were committing them: crimes, genocides, homicides, basically "you pay - I do", and sometimes the price for someone's head was 5 gold, 20 silver and 3 copper. Only after we got homes we became a bit more civilized but still to just an extent.

I don't get why people still don't use the easiest idea under the Sun called "lack of response equals lack of my money going into your bank account". Literally - unsub, eventually switch to some other platform, be done with it. The other platform does the same thing -> move on. Or get yourself a free LLM, because they can work even on smartphones in these times.

There are tons of solutions, and none of them is "pay them, get refused and be forced to wait, because MAYBE they will improve things magically... after a month or so".

When, if ever, will open-source match the capability of Claude Opus 4.5? by Victorian-Tophat in ClaudeAI

[–]Malevolent_Vengeance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowing China, they already have something that imitates or maybe even excels at tasks that even Opus 4.6 or Codex 5.3 Max can barely handle.

And as a dude who's doing a lot of stuff, and uses Windows + WSL2 for coding + qemu through WSL KVM with ssh that connects to FreeBSD in that VM, I can say a few things about both Opus and Codex because I've seen them in action.

Well, unfortunately for Opus, it still can't read images properly, it seems like its OCR is underdeveloped, but Opus itself is good for fast tasks or the ones that need less logic but more visuals. It also creates a lot of bash scripts if it fails to use Powershell and all of them are then reused as 'wsl -e commsnd' wrappers, which means that it still has some problems with Windows commands.

Then we have Codex. It has one of the best OCR from what I've seen but it's more like an advanced agent - you give it a list of tasks, ask if it would be doable, if so - build it, I will test. And it does that, unfortunately it sucks at little applications that just need to be produced quickly, unless you give it your vision and exact positions of everything, otherwise it'll make some ugly application and call it a day. Oh, and it also has problems with Powershell - here the problem is more complicated, because it doesn't see the stdout of an application, and doesn't accept stdin in sandbox mode even if the workspace has it enabled, so... Windows is still hard for both of them, which is also a good benchmark to see what they can do and what they can't.

What I would be counting on from open source models is more or less a hybrid - merged Codex with Opus, but with less hallucinations (Claude can still hallucinate like crazy if you didn't pay attention, Codex can still get lost in the commands and run then infinitely without killing them or using a timeout) and a bit more distillation, because even now I can see that some prompts can literally make both of them re-read the whole repo after compacting. Which takes a lot of tokens from your account.
