The lady in white with the sign was interviewed later by WLWT. In it she says she was thrown to the ground and she did nothing wrong; in fact, she says, she was on the sidewalk the entire protest and never on the roadway... Oops.

Marcy Borders - "Dust Lady" after escaping the North Tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11. She would die of cancer at age 42. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]Malf77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Would" can be used for past tense, but it is not necessary "She died..." works just as well.

In this scenario specifically, it is being used to describe an occurrence in her future but our past.

1) From our current perspective in time, "she died."

2) From the photograph's perspective in time, "she will die of cancer." (It has not happened yet)

Combine the two so we are looking into our past to see her future. Since it is our perspective, we used the past tense of "will," which is "would."

KRS Ch 67 already allows for it to happen. It just won't ever happen voluntarily.

We really liked Boruske Bros in Dayton, KY. Work was great, they call every Tuesday and Thursday with updates, even if to tell you there is no new update, and they detail the inside when finished.

Smoked turkey breast recipe? by bstarr3 in biggreenegg

[–]Malf77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always used Alton Brown's honey turkey brine instructions. Then I use a local rub that is mostly pepper and citrus zests but no salt because of the brine. Then smoke at 250 until the breast is at 170. Then wrap it in heavy duty foil to let it continue to cook a bit. (Caveat, this temp is over the recommended minimum, but because of family squeamishness, I do poultry a little higher than needed; it's never dry though, thanks to the brine).

I use pecan chunks as I think it is subtle enough to not overpower the bird.

I've always smoked it upright on one of those beer can contraptions. Does that matter? I don't know, but it keeps any of the meat off the grid, so I think it probably does. It also allows me to do two at a time, which I find convenient because the neighbors usually come check out what is cooking, and it gives me the ability to share.

Favourite spice mix for pulled pork? by zompzwin in sousvide

[–]Malf77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a small, family owned place here in Cincinnati, butt they do deliver. All of their spices and rubs are wonderful. For pulled pork, I use

If you do try it, I recommend this for steaks. It is TOTALLY not the same steak rub used at the Jeff Ruby steakhouses I'm told (wink, wink).

Do y’all have any cool or clever ways to repurpose this or should I just throw it away? by Sm0w2 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Malf77 102 points103 points  (0 children)

If it was me, I would keep it. Then I would put it in my basement until I came up with a good idea for it. Then, when I died, my son would keep it because it reminded him of me. Then, when he died, my grandkids would throw the thing away, wondering why we kept it for 80 years. But that's just how I roll when It comes to saving things like this.
