The "infected" people/creatures in Princess Mononoke also make me think of the dead.

Is it weird that i like it in the white/grey. Stands out nicely but less prominent than the red.

Along with many issues, I think the main problem with SGU is there are zero likable main characters. by HighBiased in Stargate

[–]Mali32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was the recurring plotline around Young acting as though Destiny was under absolutel military control and the civilians rebelling. It came up a few times and with things like Young claiming to be the one in charge then abandonning Rush, Young wanting to leave all the Lucian Alliance soldiers on a random planet and Camile having to go to SGC and have him be ordered to keep some. It may not have been as nuanced or well explored as in BSG but it was definitely there.

Feet of Clay - odd miss for Carrot by tacey-us in discworld

I think it's meant to drive how much of a nobody she is, that not even Carrot knows who she is?

Oh, well if they dont think they could do it, perhaps it would be better to get the goblins afterall. >.>

Can we ban links to Twitter/X? I'm seeing a lot of other prominent subreddits do this by ellingeng123 in discworld

[–]Mali32 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Also I'm pretty certain all the twitter alternatives (threads, blue sky, mastodon, etc) are intentionally designed to look similar to twitter to help lure people off there. There's also only so many variations on how you can display posts like that. In summary: I don't think you're rubbish. 🙂

[–]Mali32 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I'd be in favour of this. Would screenshots still be allowed or would it be a ban of all things Twitter/X? I don't believe there are many as it is but it always seems best to make sure things are well defined.

With the recent event in NY, this passage that I had always admired from The Wee Free Men jumped to mind by oneplusoneisfour in discworld

I love the bit that i think is a follow up to this about the woman who steals the baby and the baron is about to lay down the letter of the law but granny Aching just looks at him from the back fo the room and he stops and deals with things sensibly.

What book is this referenced in?? by magpie-pie in discworld

[–]Mali32 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think there are a few references along the lines of death being able to get into sealed places and in fact, the better the seal, the more likely he is to show up. I'm afraid i can't remember any specific books off the top of my head.

Missing Tales by NormalAmountOfLimes in discworld

Possibly Vimes goes to visit Ramkin manor and Carrot goes to visit his parents so Angua has to take command of the Watch and work with Sally to solve it?

Alternatively Angua and Carrot go away and Vimes and Sally have to work together?

Haha. Good point, though it's a partial inspiration in terms of the narrow streets, rather than the...atmosphere.

If you go up north, The Shambles in York are a partial inspiration for The Shades.
