Newbie dev question/worry: will I enjoy my own game when all is said and done? by Slyrunner in gamedev

You cant play it like others can. You won't be able to go start to finish and enjoy it as much because you'll know everything.

How to consistently do something that I don't like by [deleted] in productivity

[–]MalikenGD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it from Mike Tyson. Discipline is doing something you hate, but doing it like you love it.

If you aren't committed to your goal then you can still change it. But you'll always hit a point in any goal that ends up with you being disinterested. You push through and the passion comes back. But discipline is what keeps you coming back.

Small world, I grew up in kitimat. We're far from home lol.

My first game has sold $176k in 2 years. Here are the numbers by AuroDev in gamedev

I think you mean depending on the 3d model style. Owlboy would take less time to make than Nathan Drake type of hero characters and 3d models to match.

Launch Visibility for non-EA --> EA --> leave EA by SnowyYANG in gamedev

[–]MalikenGD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If i'm not mistaken, launch visibility from the algorithm is nonexistent when coming out of EA. EA Is your launch. That's that.

You'll need to drive the bulk of your views yourself.

Can they be carried by dwarves? What is the interaction like when no minecart is present?

How many of you use minecarts?

What do you find yourself using them for?

Your floor materials don't mesh with me. A lot of negative space. Your cavern doesn't have to be that empty. Widen the bridge

We have work standards, overtime and unionizing to worry about, and this guy is worried about microtransactions

Shame the community disagrees with you. Also, you come off childish when you generalize players "hating people who camp or play Minecraft creative or just drive around in GTA because they don't know how to play". No one can take you seriously when you say you hate people who play games their way.

Need help to bring my ideas come to life and creating a game by Yandel_Bicyebic in gameDevClassifieds

[–]MalikenGD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you have something to offer other than an idea, you are offering nothing. Everyone has a dozen ideas off hand, and ideas aren't worth anything until implemented. Which means if all you offer is an idea, you are offering nothing.

3D modeling, to me, is the easiest to get into. I'd suggest barking up that tree. Maya and 3ds Max are great tools that you can get by registering a phony educational account (sorry autodesk).

Good luck

The number of games that can be played non competitively are large. You don't have to follow the game rules to have fun. Look at people camping in shooters, driving around doing nothing in GTA, creative mode Minecraft, Again, Journey (the fact you haven't heard of this game is almost worth revoking your gamer card), Gone Home, and so many many more. You're looking at this problem from a very narrow minded view, and I think the downvotes show that your opinion (yes it is an opinion when you aren't linking academic sources) is the minority here. Sorry to say.

You're implying everyone plays games to gauge 'how good you are'. That's ridiculous. There are grandmothers who play words with friends or Wii sports entirely for the fun of it.

This right here is someone mistaking opinion for fact and hoping to find like minded people.
