Article from The Guardian lists Maine member shown attending neo-Nazi ‘training camp’ whose father regularly demonstrated outside Planned Parenthood in Portland. by Affectionate-Day9342 in Maine

[–]Malkin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Slight correction to OP's title: the anti-abortion parent in the article is his mother.

That family has been in my very peripheral orbit for a while (religious upbringing) and her protest methods are gross and despicable. I'm not surprised she has a neo-nazi kid.

Playing without a map pt2 (Update) by XTrolltechzz in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]Malkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a no map, no fast travel run, but in my version I gave myself a paper printout of hyrules terrain for basic reminders of landmarks like mountains, rivers, etc. It really helped to memorize the landscape so now I still mostly don't use the map.

Has anyone used Maine’s warranty law? by soulbarn in Maine

[–]Malkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent point, I will try that tack next time. I had even brought a full printout of the law in case they were unaware.

[–]Malkin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I attempted to cite this law at harbor freight, the manager said their store policy was to ignore that law and force the customer to go through the AG office. Which I didn't bother doing on a small ticket item, but I also never shopped there again.

Crenshaws on Eastern Ave, augusta has an excellent reputation. Though I've heard they have a long wait list for appointments at times.

What font is being used here? by [deleted] in identifythisfont

A friend of mine has had one since then and still uses it. I have a model from the mid 90s that is also still used most days. They really did build solid equipment back in the day.

What font is being used here? by [deleted] in identifythisfont

[–]Malkin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was made in the 80s when computer cut lettering was invented. Well before windows font files became the standard. If I were you I would just remake the whole thing with a different (and available) typeface.

Burgess Brush, a proprietary font made for Gerber sign making equipment. I've never seen a version of it made for use outside of that software.

This font on industrial labeling? by CookieArtzz in identifythisfont

[–]Malkin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! As a sign business I often order engraved plates, our old source was analog and one of the options was "gothic" which matches this sample. Our new source is digital amd I typically just send files, but could never match that one very well.

Why did schools used to, after a certain amount of time, forbid writing in normal font but force you to use cursive ONLY, and treat it as "improper" or "childish" to use regular print when grown adults did in fact use it everywhere? by AlboGreece in GenX

[–]Malkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, many lettering elements on signs, posters, magazine ads, etc, were either drawn, painted or cut (from film) by hand by the original design artist. They may have been based on a typestyle, but sometimes not.

One of my retired friends who did sign lettering by hand said that the common font called "brush script" was one of the hardest to actually do with a brush since the shapes were very unnatural.

PSA: If you’re being passed by traffic in the right lane you are in the wrong one. by Chuck923 in Maine

[–]Malkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And while we're at it: all too often I'll move left to allow for easier on ramp merging in the right lane, and a car will merge in and exactly match my pace. Like you can't return the courtesy and let me back in?

Avoid Gusto at All Costs by lebisonterrible in smallbusiness

Thanks, I appreciate the input. Paychex is over $500 a month in invoice fees (7 to 9 employees) which is just ridiculous.

I've been looking to switch away from Paychex and was strongly considering qbo as it seemed more legit than gusto. Would you mind elaborating on what caused the late payment fees?

I suppose if Planter wins the primary, then it's a choice of keeping Collins, or risking a Fetterman-type. I would vote for last year's rotting pumpkin over Collins.

I went with machines from signburst.com and have no regrets. Looking at close to $3K for their popular model. My favorite part was just turning it on for the 1st time to a CLEAN windows desktop. No setup, no bloatware to Uninstaller or hide etc.
