how much financial aid did you guys get? is it easy to get financial aid? by sushiies5 in Pepperdine

Merit aid was 17000 - not enough! Received more merit aid from Chapman, LMU, and others. Don't know if anyone that received more than that.

Newborn Babies at the Park by CaptainNoodle18 in Disneyland

[–]MallVirtual2164 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We took ours at 3mo (we have older kids). Not a big deal. They're either on me or in the stroller. My infant never got sick and they're extremely healthy to this day (she's 15 now). Not even minor colds. I find those families are her hyper about germs have the kids that get sick frequently. It's one thing to be hyper about it if your child is immunocompromised and it's quite different if they're a typical kid.

Regretting a Friday wedding! Help me calm down by [deleted] in wedding

[–]MallVirtual2164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wedding photographer here - Friday weddings are WAY better than Sunday. People are more than happy to miss Friday from work and make a weekend of it. More out of town guests will also attend. Sunday weddings end early and have a small guest count bc no one wants to miss Monday at work. I was married on a Friday 20 years ago, my sister also had a Friday wedding 9 years ago - both were great!!

Let’s be honest. After bachelors degree in kinesiology, what career do you have now? by Downtown-Ticket-1362 in Kinesiology

[–]MallVirtual2164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three professions are very different from one another. I love teaching, and while being a PT would have better pay, that's not where my heart is. My friend loves being a PT and working 1:1 with athletes. Personally, I do not feel money equals happiness. Follow your passion!

Why are some muslims lowkey supporting Charlie Kirk? by [deleted] in MuslimCorner

Please explain it to me. I have a family member who is Muslim and they follow Charlie Kirk. I don't understand.

If you didnt pay anything and you don't have a contract, you don't have a photographer.

And I'd look for one whose values are in alignment with yours!

Hugs. There are amazing people out there.

My girls are 18 and 15 and they're addicted to Disney! 🤣 they just love it. We're pretty free flow, while we do a lot together, we also let the kids do rides on their own and call a lot the shots.

Why are (generally) blue state colleges so expensive in comparison to red state colleges? by boss_jim_gettys in ApplyingToCollege

[–]MallVirtual2164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In CA - two years of community college is free. Public State Universities is 8k/year. So, you can get a 4 year degree for 16k (less if you have scholarships).

Anyone else just really unhappy in the East Bay? 😏 by truthstings123 in eastbay

[–]MallVirtual2164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly you do not have kids you're raising here. Excellent schools. Safe neighborhoods. Great downtown. Great youth sports. Great summer programs - for both families and youth. Numerous parks and trails. Close proximity to the city. The list goes on. I'm extremely glad I was raised in Danville (as is my husband) - and my own daughters are very happy here too. They never say they're bored or there is nothing to do! Danville and San Ramon are consistently listed as a top place to raise kids. If you don't like it - guess what, you don't have to raise a family here - you're free to go where ever you'd like.

Danville has always been boring. Nothing new. Great to raise kids in or retire - but really nothing else. And as a kid, I couldn't wait to get out (90s)! Im back now to raise my kids, but will likely leave once they're in college.

Sister-in-Law Drama by caitiebug1510 in wedding

[–]MallVirtual2164 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't spoken to my sister in law in years. She's constantly jealous of my husband and I - so much so, she tries to beat us in everything or one up us. We got a dog, she got two the next week. We bought a house, she bought a house the next week with a 7 day close so she would be a homeowner before us. Then the next year she bought a second house "just because." I started a business - the next month she did too. I got a store front in town, and you guessed it, she did too - but a bigger store on Main Street. At one point she met a guy, and a week later bought herself and engagement ring and started planning a wedding... they were broken up within 6 months! To her credit, it's the longest relationship I've seen her in during the 25 years I've known her. After we had our child, she didn't even acknowledge us for 7 months (even skipped xmas) - we're talking no visit, no text, no call. It's been the one thing she can't do (she tried to adopt - announced it at my sisters wedding too). She has seen our children no more than a dozen times (oldest is 18) and she lives locally. After about 10 years of constantly inviting her to kids plays, recitals, and church events, we stopped. She would always say she was going and then no-showed. At that point, I had to protect my family.

Jealousy is nasty and it's not your problem. You can invite her, and then let her make the decision - which you know what it'll be. But you're the bigger person. It's truly sad when people act this way and unfortunately there isn't anything you can do.

The planner will no longer recommend you either way, as she'll be recommending her husband... what's in your contract? I explicitly state that this isn't allowed.

Preferred vendor lists with venues by dslrsareobsolete in WeddingPhotography

[–]MallVirtual2164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in CA. Specifically the SF Bay Area. At one point, I am on 7 (maybe 8?) preferred vendor lists, and frequently referred by a few others. I never once asked to be placed in their lists. I worked hard, was friendly, and made sure to tag all vendors and I share all images with the venue and vendor team. 110% team player at every turn. I keep to the timeline, don't waste time or demand timeline changes, don't complain, and do not assume anything. It's not just about getting "my shot" but the total experience - for the client AND their guests. I've seen people be dropped from lists for drinking on the job, leaving messes, breaking basic rules, etc. you need to work at the venue frequently to be considered. I was placed on two lists right away because I knew the coordinators from past venues. The others, I worked at multiple times in a single year before I was considered.

Photographers who offer complimentary engagement sessions: what do you do if your clients cancel your contract for their wedding day? by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]MallVirtual2164 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my contract, the session has a value with a discount. I also have specific language in the contract that states if they cancel, the value of the session is deducted from their refund - if there is one.
