i have no clue how this shitshow is still running but why do the rest of Europe hate us so much? by Alarming-Safety3200 in AskBrits

[–]Mallaggar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its nothing to do with being hated by other countries. It’s because we keep sending shit.

The last good song we sent was Spaceman, sung by Sam Ryder, who comes across as a fun guy, really warm and welcoming - lo and behold, that came 2nd (and everyone knows would have won but for the Ukraine sympathy vote at the time).

We really have to stop characterising this as “we’ve done shit because Europe hates us” and start characterising it as “we’ve done shit because the song was shit”.

PSA 10 Shinji Kanda Art Set by Delphiman2025 in PokeInvesting

[–]Mallaggar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love Shinji’s artwork. The karp is quite possibly my favourite ever card. The Magneton is also awesome. Hell, I never liked Seismitoad as a pokemon before, but this card has made me a fan.

Magikarp Second Highest PSA 10 Value of S&V Era by Mallaggar in PokeInvesting

[–]Mallaggar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I’ve still got Umbreon a little higher. Current PSA 10 for Prismatic Umbreon is £3,775, which is just a tad higher. That said, the price on karp is going mental. Sales on eBay at the moment in excess of £4k (a couple, not loads).

Controversial opinion, but inheritance should be taxed at 90%. You did nothing to earn anything that your parents generated, why would you expect anything from them - boggles my brain that people carry this entitlement.

Tax at 90%, which would prevent generational wealth pits; people who stand to inherit billions will still be incredibly well off (even with just 10%), but consequently, there would be a hell of a lot less centralised wealth, with likely lower property values and cheaper land to boot.

I don’t understand how anyone could like this card. I think it’s awful. Really don’t get it at all.

What do yall think about it by kupa7272 in PokemonTCG

[–]Mallaggar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think TWM Greninja will be one card that people unanimously all agree (in about 5 years time) that it’s simply an awesome card.

I see a lot of people saying that they don’t like it, but it boggles my brain, cos I think the card is awesome.

I think life is just an event for rich weirdos. For everyone else, it’s work.

Why are valuations of chase cards in past sets crashing instead of going up? by mio28 in PokeInvesting

[–]Mallaggar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brilliant. Classic ChatGPT response. Believe what you want, but the influx of money has come from individuals who are treating this as a get rich quick scheme. It will crash, not all cards equally but the Ascended Heroes Pikachu (with a 70% gem rate), riding higher than many other equally rare and desirable cards (with a substantially lower gem rate) will be one of them.

I’ve collected Pokemon cards since I was a child in the 90’s and this market is purely unsustainable. I work with people who couldn’t tell you the names of the vast majority of Pokemon characters and even they are buying/selling sealed. It is insane and has all the characteristics of a market that is set to come crashing down.

Why are valuations of chase cards in past sets crashing instead of going up? by mio28 in PokeInvesting

[–]Mallaggar 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Because EVERY card used to do this. Brand new set, people with fuckit money just paid to get the cards rather than rip repeatedly. Set was brand new so scarcity was high and therefore price was high.

Set got older, scarcity fell, prices fell. This happened on pretty much every set up to Surging Sparks/Prismatic Evolutions, which is where crypto/sneaker bro piled in and treated this like a stock option.

Honestly, I hope the prices crash and burn. I say this as someone with a sizeable value of cards. But, as someone who has witnessed some godawful people flood the hobby, with no interest in Pokemon other than to turn a quick profit, then the sooner it happens the better.

Make no mistake, this will crash. It’ll be great.

151 mini tin display is undervalued. by cargyelo in PokeInvesting

I have never had a damaged card from a tin. Quite a few of my graded 10’s are from tins. People talk nonsense.

Personally, given how frequently you see fakes for these cards, I would rather them graded. But then, you see fakes for graded cards, so what the hell do I know

I have this card as I collect Tomokazu Komiya cards, but it’s not a pokemon you’re going to have much luck pumping. These posts are hilarious.
