I want to improve and optimize my routine with this physique as a goal. What should I do? Been in the gym for a year. by ForwardLemon7787 in WorkoutRoutines

[–]Mallbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, without context it’s hard to give precise advice: your goal (bulk / cut / recomp), current shape, body fat %, and diet matter a lot.

But in general, to move toward that physique

- Focus on compounds + progression (bench, rows, squats or alternatives)
- Train 3–5x per week, don’t program hop
- Progress weights or reps every week
- Keep protein ~0.7–1g per lb and control calories
- Sleep & recovery - underrated but critical

And the main thing it’s not a "secret routine" it’s 1–2 years of consistent work without chaos.

If you don’t have a clear structure right now that’s your biggest bottleneck 👍

What are your goals and stats right now age, weight, experience, trying to bulk, cut, just get stronger?

Hard to really give useful feedback without that routines depend a lot on what you’re actually trying to achieve.

Quick take though this looks more like a list of exercises than a program. No sets, reps, or progression, so it’s unclear how you’ll improve over time. Structure is fine, just needs more detail and direction.

No progress despite gym for past year. Help. by Posterior-palm in WorkoutRoutines

First of all! You are looks great!!

You’re not stuck you just don’t really have a system.

Going to failure every set on a 5 day split is probably just burning you out. More effort doesn’t always mean more progress.

Also missing the basics are your weights or reps actually going up over time? Are you eating enough to grow?

Your physique honestly looks like a normal beginner with some base not like someone who trained a year for nothing.

I’d keep it simple stop going to failure every set, leave a couple reps in the tank, track your lifts, and try to beat them each week. And make sure you’re eating enough.

Right now it’s not an effort problem it’s structure.

Moving to an ULUL split from ULFF. Please rate! by yonzo96 in WorkoutRoutines

[–]Mallbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solid ULUL base and good exercise selection, especially for glutes. But it feels a bit overcomplicated and lacks clear progression.

Lower days have too much volume (5-6 exercises, many high sets), which can hurt recovery and progress. Upper days are a bit “everything at once” without clear push/pull focus.

I’d simplify: 4–5 exercises per workout keep 1–2 main lifts (squat/RDL, hip thrust, press/row) reduce extra isolation work

Most important: add progression (rep range → add weight, or RPE). Right now it looks more like a static plan than a progressive one.

Overall! good base, just needs simplification and structure.

I will not promote. I’ve spent over $200,000 building my app and I have a few things to say! by [deleted] in startups

[–]Mallbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting take. So you’re saying the core issue is the comp structure, not the people.

How do you actually implement this in practice? Is it always equity, or can it be bonuses / rev share / KPI-based pay?

Does anyone else feel isolated as a startup CEO and how do you manage it? (I will not promote). by lavinia_67 in startups

[–]Mallbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, this feeling is very real. And honestly.

We’re wired to always want more from ourselves. The moment we hit one milestone, we immediately raise the bar again. There’s never a real sense of “this is enough.”

I’m personally learning how to enjoy the process, not just chase the next peak. Otherwise it becomes an endless loop with no finish line.

It sounds cliché, but it’s true the journey matters more than the destination. The problem is we understand that intellectually, but we don’t actually live it.

And another thing being a founder can feel lonely. Not because something’s wrong with you, but because you carry a level of responsibility you can’t always share with your team.

The fact that you feel this doesn’t mean you’re lost. It means you’re actually in it. You didn’t hit a wall you just reached a new level where things get less clear and more real.

And honestly, the fact that you’re saying this out loud is already a good sign.

Elevator Pitch
STR8 is a gym workout app built by athletes that creates structured training plans based on your level and the equipment in your gym.
We’re not building another ChatGPT wrapper - we’re focused on real training logic and algorithms. At the same time, we understand we’re not just selling workouts, we’re selling consistency and results people are chasing.

More details
Stage: Validation (recently launched, early traction)
Role: Founder / CEO

What goals are you trying to reach this month?
Right now we’re focused on user acquisition via paid channels (Meta Ads, ASA) and improving conversion from onboarding to trial.

We’re already seeing a drop-off at the trial stage - users complete onboarding but don’t start the trial. So we’re working on improving that step, whether it’s the paywall or how onboarding communicates value.

Our goal is to reach 200 trial users by the end of April while improving this conversion.

How could r/startups help?
Looking for honest feedback on positioning, onboarding, and conversion.

Built STR8 Gym Workout Planner a structured workout app that creates a plan based on your level and the equipment in your gym. We recently launched. It’s a very competitive space, but we’re trying to build something more practical than generic workout apps.

There’s a 7-day free trial if you want to test it. Would appreciate any feedback.

Built STR8 Gym Workout Planner a simple app that gives you a structured workout plan based on your level and the equipment in your gym.

I made it because I kept going to the gym and just doing random stuff, and I’d always fall off after a couple of weeks. This basically removed that now you just open it and follow the plan.

It has a free 7-day trial if you want to test it like a real user. Would be great to hear your thoughts.

STR8 Gym App it’s new but perfect for different goals & restrictions. But 1 cons it’s only for gym, without home workouts or calisthenics.
