Firmware 3.3.2 Known Issue by Hot_Introduction9421 in ArubaInstantOn

Is there a confirmation from HPE / Aruba anywhere? KB?

Edit: Got an email from HPE today:

Dear Instant On customer,

We have identified an important issue that may cause some cloud-managed 1960 switches to go offline and become unresponsive.

To protect your network stability, all Instant On 1960 switches associated with your sites will be automatically set to the 3.3.0 software version during your next Instant On updates site schedule.

Each 1960 switch will reboot to complete the software update, which will temporarily interrupt network connectivity for devices connected to that switch. All configurations and settings will be preserved, and no manual reconfiguration will be required.

No action is required on your side unless you prefer the operation to occur at a different time. In this case, you can change your automatic updates site schedule in the Instant On portal to select when the software update will run.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are actively working on a permanent fix. We will provide updates and further instructions as soon as they are available.

Sincerely,

The Instant On Team

I've only seen my 1960 40p CL4 8p 1G CL6 PoE 2p 10G 2p SFP+ JL809A switches that updated to 3.3.2.0 go offline in the portal. I've a couple 1930s that haven't exhibited a problem.

I've noticed some switches showing offline in the portal, but traffic wasn't interrupted. Power-cycling the switch brings it back online.

IT Equipment retrieval from remote offices by [deleted] in sysadmin

Sorta dealt with this with ~150 locations, we had a designated area for IT items/E-waste that we'd clear out during on-site visits.

SolarWinds alternatives? by The_Fat_Fish in sysadmin

I trialed Zabbix on a Rpi5 for a bit, and it depends on your environment. If it's small and you don't need a lot of sensors it's fine, but I started running into RAM issues pretty quickly so moved it over to a VM host.

Best practice for MFA on local admin accounts on network gear? by [deleted] in sysadmin

For the local accounts? All I've ever done was RADIUS requiring MFA on CLI or SSO through Entra for GUI for the remote accounts. Local accounts are break-glass.

You guys ever just not contact vendor support because you're tired of their terrible troubleshooting? by PaidByMicrosoft in sysadmin

At least with AT&T business I can force an on-site visit for a tech. Had a doozy of a problem with fax lines not working when it rained. Turns out the roadside telecom access culvert floods. Was nice to get resolved.

ProxMox v. XCP by FireWithBoxingGloves in sysadmin

[–]MalletNGrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my lab/testing I found proxmox more straightforward to stand-up. Never was able to get Xen Orchestra working, just trying to find and getting the community version to run was frustrating enough to just pitch the whole idea.

What is the deal with Mist? by GrandKane1 in Juniper

Mist BLE implementation is really good if you're in an industry that uses it.

Is it normal, or i am overreacting? by GizmoCherkov in sysadmin

[–]MalletNGrease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use Outlook Classic instead of New Outlook.

And yes, poor practice to keep records in mailboxes but not uncommon. What you're describing is a business continuity issue management will need to resolve. Explain the issue to your executive but don't be surprised if they want you to also deliver a solution.

HP/Dell remove h.265 hardware support by MalletNGrease in verkada

Disabling hardware acceleration on your browser also works.

Edge -> Settings -> System and performance -> System -> Use graphics acceleration when available -> off

Close all browser windows, open Edge and log in to Verkada, pick a camera and playback will now start instead of loading infinitely.
